Edith Eleanor Dunnum
Edith Eleanor Johansen Dunnum passed away November 1, 2004, at Avalon Health Care Center, Pasco, WA. Edith was born February 12, 1918 in Luverne, ND to H. Christ and Gertrud Haugaard Johansen. She attended school in Luverne and graduated from high school in Hope, ND. While attending Fargo Business School she met DeVerne ''Doc/Dunny'' Dunnum. They were married January 4, 1937 in Moorhead, MN. Edith lived in North Dakota for 30 years. They lived in Valley City, Page and Mayville. In 1960 she moved to Bellevue/Seattle and Tri-Cities where Doc was employed as Pharmacist for Bartell and then Crescent Drug. Doc was her best friend and soul mate. Edith was an avid Mariner's fan. She also loved to read, play cards, sew and cook. Her family was a never ending source of joy for her. She was a member of Eastern Star, Moose, Eagles and Elks. She was a creative and accomplished pianist. Playing by ear, she created her own arrangements of big band music, polka, waltzes and the popular music of the day. Her first experience as an organist was in 1945 playing a pump organ in Page, North Dakota. She was a church organist for many years in various places where they lived. Edith and Doc enjoyed their summers at Fishtrap Resort. They loved to travel in their motor home taking many winter trips to Arizona. Edith was blessed to have shared many years of friendship with lifelong friends Mort and Marg Fensted and Perry and Margaret Early. Edith loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, treasuring the special times they shared. She was very proud of each one and always had words of love and encouragement for them. Edith was preceded in death by husband of 65 years, DeVerne ''Doc/Dunny'' Dunnum, Sr., parents, brother Stanley Johansen and great grandson Caleb Emil Otterness. She is survived by daughters Joann Wayne Otterness, Bismarck, ND, Debbie Larry Frankenfield, Pasco, WA, son DeVerne Cathy Dunnum, Jr., West Richland, WA, dear sister-in-law D. lone Hyatt of Seattle, WA. Grandchildren Cary Trish Otterness, Bismarck, ND, Beth Roy Peterson, Mandan, ND, Mark Rachel Otterness, Bismarck, ND, Jen Jeremy Henriksen, Farmington, MN, Becky Geoff Mercer, St. Cloud, MN, Scott Mindy Frankenfield, Kristy Craig Good, Kevin fiance Carolyn Frankenfield, Brian Frankenfield, Dusty Chris Perez, Aaron Crystal Dunnum, Jayme Rob Brackett, all from Tri-Cities and 16 great grandchildren, special nieces and nephews and Godson, Mike Johansen.
The family is very grateful to the wonderful caregivers and staff at Avalon Health Care Center for the care given to Edith during her illness.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday November 5, 2004 at 2 pm at Einans Funeral Home in Richland, WA.

Ronn & I wish to share our sorrow in the loss of Edith. I loved her very much and looked forward to seeing her every Saturday at Bingo. I have truly missed her since she left Hawthorne Court. It is earth’s loss but heavens’s gain. God Bless the family,
