From Kennewick, WA, US | Born in Tabor, Anderson Co., Iowa
Sadie LeEtta Leeper Perrin
Sadie LeEtta Leeper Perrin was born to Jesse and Anna Leeper, in Tabor, Anderson County, Iowa on October 17, 1906. She was the ninth of ten children.
As a child she went with her parents and all ten children and the older ones wives and husbands and families, via an emigrant car to Judith Basin, Montana. They returned to Iowa in three covered wagons and a buggy. This was a three month trip. When it snowed on the 4th of July, her father had had enough of Montana.
In 1938 she married C. B. Brownie Perrin in Atlantic, Iowa. In May of 1939 a son, Ronald, was born to this union.
Sadie and family moved to North Dakota in 1945. There wasn't any electricity at the farm at this time. They had to leave electric appliances in Iowa, until the electric lines were run in the early 1950's. They lived and farmed west of Rhame, N. D. until Brownie passed away in August of 1960. At that time she moved to Montana. And then back to Bowman, N.D. where she began working at the Nursing Home in 1966, at 60 years old. She worked there for 15 years. Upon retiring, she moved back to Iowa and lived with her sister until 1991 when she moved to Washington State to be nearer her son and family.
Sadie passed away at Kennewick Life Care on December 22, 2004. She had lived there for the last six months, after breaking her hip.
Sadie is survived by one sister, Irene Witte, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; her son, Ron, and wife, Jeri, of Benton City, Washington; granddaughter, Kathy and husband, Vern Garberg, of Benton City, Washington; and her grandson, Jim of the US Navy, aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. Sadie is also survived two great granddaughters, Carmen Garberg, and Wendy Garberg, of Benton City, Washington, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Inurnment will be beside her husband in Tuttle Cemetery in Rhame, North Dakota at a later date.
I extend to you and your family my sympathies. May God Bless you as your mother takes her place beside our Lord in Heaven. What a glorious gift for her this Christmas season.
I know I met Aunt Sadie when I was very young, but at those times when so many still gathered together, the little kids often didn’t get acquainted with those we didn’t see often. I do remember my father, Leo, speaking of Brownie and Sadie often though. And of course in the past few years, Aunt Irene and Shirley and Janis have shared stories about her with all of us. Ron and Jeri I regret that I have missed my opportunity to know your Mother in this life. God Bless.
I hope aunt Sadie is at peace now.We loved her and we have many fond memories of her. We will keep her in our hearts.
Thinking of you on this sad occasion, hoping that your memories will help you in this time of sadness.
I remember going to Aunt Sadies and having such a good time with her. I didnt see much of her in later years but she was always one of my favorite Aunts.
We will all miss her
My thoughts are with you in this time of sadness.
May you find comfort in the enduring beauty of Gods world and in the warmth of happy memories.
With the passing of time may the spirit of acceptance and enter peace enfold you.
Beloved Aunt. She is with our heavenly Father now. I know you will miss her, but she has “run the race, finished the course, and now has the crown of rightousness” My love and prayers to all of you, Verla Leeper Thomas.
I worked with Sadie Many years ago in the Housekeeping Dept @ the Nursing Home in Bowman, she was a nice lady. I want to offer my condolence to her family..
Aunt Sadie was a grand lady, I enjoyed being able to spend some time with her after she moved to Washington. I will miss her,
