Robert Bertman Abrams, Jr.

Robert B. Abrams Jr., 85, died January 11, 2005, at his home in Richland, WA.

He was born on December 5, 1919, in Georgetown, PA, and grew up in Chester, W.Va.

He graduated from Mount Union College in Alliance, OH, where he captained the basketball and tennis teams and was commander of Sigma Nu Fraternity.

He worked as a chemist for Dupont in Charleston, W.Va., before transferring to Richland in 1944. He worked at the Hanford Atomic Energy Reservation until retirement in 1986.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2005, at 2 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1322 Kimball, Richland, WA, with reception to follow. Viewing is from 8 a.m. to noon at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Burial is at sunset, 4:37 p.m.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Bertman and Pearl Allison Abrams and his siblings, Leona, Thomas Mildred, Eunice and John Ruth.

He is survived by Jean, Nancy and Barrington Edith; his siblings, Alberta and Shirley Dennis; and his children, Robb, Paul Anna, Chip Linda, and Kathleen. Peter Shannon, Whitney John, Thomas, Nels, Jennifer, Alison, Ben Erin, Sam, John, Joe, Anna and Richard are his grandchildren.

He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Caden, Tyler and Nicholas, loved nieces and nephews and good friends. We will dearly miss his presence in our lives but his strength and grace will be in our hearts and in our family forever.
