Betsy Lee McPhail Porter
Betsy Lee McPhail Porter, age 80, passed away March 16th, 2005 in Kennewick, Washington surrounded by her loving family. Born December 7, 1924 to Bertha and Archibald McPhail in Fargo, ND, she graduated from Fargo High School in 1943. She was married June 12th, 1948. Betsy and family moved to the Yakima valley to farm in 1955.
Betsy was a long time member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sunnyside, Washington. She was very active in her church work. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was active in the church choir. She taught elementary school for the Prosser School District for 18 years. She was active in the Sweet Adeline Chorus in Prosser for many years. She actively participated in the family apple and cherry farm where she was considered the ''Momma Cita Patron''. They farmed until retirement in 1987. They then moved to Grandview, Washington. She spent much quality time with her family in the summers camping, swimming, fishing and boating. Spending winters in Arizona. Above all, Betsy was the heart and soul of her family, and it is impossible to describe how much she will be missed. She was a mother and grandmother extraordinaire. Her family and friends'll miss her dearly.
She is survived by her husband Donald, daughter Claudia and husband Mel Louk of Oakesdale, Wa, daughter Susan and husband Paul Smith of Dallas, Oregon, and son, Paul and wife Robin Porter of Elgin, Oregon. She has eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Her Twin Sister, Mary Conmy and her nephew Scott Conmy also survive her.
In lieu of flowers please make donations either to the Our Saviors Lutheran Church or the Kidney Foundation.
Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Saturday, March 19, 2005, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, located at Grandview and Taylor in Sunnyside, Washington. Interment will be at Prosser Cemetery.
