Frank Edwin Wright II

Frank passed away at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary; children Trevor Natalie, Kristin and Ashley; parents Ed and JoAnn Wright; sisters Lynda and Carol; in-laws Janice Erstad, Orville and Marilyn Erstad.

Frank was born in Livonia, MI on March 29, 1968. While living in Guam he proved to be a real dare devil at the age of 3, jumping from the 10-meter platform! He continued his adventurous life and even made a name for himself in WA by repeatedly painting the VW Bug on top of the Richland car wash. Frank enjoyed playing many high school sports at Hanford High and lettered in football, track and wrestling. He went on to be a volunteer firefighter received a Commendation Award for risking his life, while off duty, to check a burning house for survivors before the fire department made it to the scene, ran his own company and managed Mel’s Thrift grocery store. His last place of employment was with Fluor Hanford, where he worked as a Nuclear Chemical Operator.

At the age of 24 he met the love of his life, Mary. Frank and Mary wed on August 21, 1993. Frank also became a Dad to Trevor and Kristin on that day. His daughter Ashley was born August 2, 1994. Frank realized that all his dreams had come true. He could have been accused of being too prideful of his kids. He was their biggest fan at sporting events, concerts, dance recitals and more. He gave his children a love or the outdoors and spent many weekends camping, fishing and hunting with his family.

Frank also loved spending time doing outdoor activities with his friends, which of course included hunting, fishing, golfing or hanging out around one of his notorious “camp fires.” Frank may not have been able to read a road sign, but he sure could spot a deer or bear lurking far off on a hillside among trees. He was also a great recycler of arrows after many missed shots!

Although Frank’s life was very short, it was full. He was loved by so many people for his thoughtfulness and giving spirit. He could always be counted on to lend a helping hand and never expected anything in return. Frank was known as a true friend, and when he was in a room there was always laughter.

No one walked away from knowing Frank Wright without being touched by his love, spirit and humor, even to the very end of his life as his doctors and nurses needed hugs and comfort after the loss of their new friend. Many thanks to all who provided medical care, prayers and support during these last few weeks. Your compassion for Frank and his family is greatly appreciated.

Viewing will be on Friday, June 3rd from 12:00-8:00 PM at Einan’s Funeral Home, as well as Saturday the 4th from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church. Services will be held at Richland Lutheran Church, 901 Van Giesen, on Saturday, June 4th at 11:00 AM. Graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 915 By-Pass Highway in Richland. We will also be having a Celebration of Frank’s life after the graveside service, at Knights of Columbus, 1300 By-Pass Highway, Richland.

Special thanks to Frank’s friend Bill Beem for his kindness and generosity during our time of need. Also, to John and Karin Cagle for their love and support over the years. You have become a part of our family.

  • Wright Family-

Our deeepest sympathy goes out to you during the this time. How nice it has been to get to know Frank and your family over the last year. Frank and Mary were the first people to welcome us into our new neighborhood when we moved in. Frank also was always willing to lend a helping hand when we were doing our landscaping or other projects on our house. It has been a real joy getting to know him over the year, and only wish we could have had more years down the road to be neighbors with him and his family. God Bless, Mary, you are in our thoughts and prayers!!!

  • My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I knew Frank from Hanford High School and from our neighborhood in West Richland. We were neighbors on “Bird Hill”. Frank played high school football with my husband, Pete Forney. I remember Frank as a warm, caring, fun-loving guy. He sure could make a person laugh. Although I did not keep in touch with Frank after I graduated in 1985, I was very saddened to hear of his death. Again, my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  • Mary and family,

I could not locate an address to send a card. I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts of Frank and his involvement with the grocer’s golf tournaments are very special. I like to think that he and Mel are now playing golf together on the finest course there is!

My sympathy and thoughts are with you and yours.
