Elna Eleanore Karstensen Stallings, 81, passed away at Park Manor Rehabilitation Center in Walla Walla on October 14, 2005.

Elna was born in Ellston, Iowa and graduated from high school in Creston, Iowa. She married Robert J. Stallings, Sr. in 1946 and they moved to Richland the same year. Richland was her home for 59 years before moving to College Place in 2004.

Elna was employed at Hanford as a telephone operator for GE. They moved to Kennewick in the mid-fifties and then back to Richland in the early sixties, pioneering one of the first irrigated farms in the now Meadow Springs area.

Elna’s greatest love and joy in life were always found in her family. She treasured visiting with her friends and her kitchen was always open to all, and a special treat always in the making. She also enjoyed raising chickens, quilting and had a love for gardening.

Elna is survived by children Beverly and Bill Moerke, Robert Jr. and Deena Stallings, and Nancy Hales and her friend Jim; grandchildren Sandra Schaefer, Laura Kendrick, Cyndi and Boe Stallings, Roger and Rochelle Hales; great-grandchildren Daniel and Matthew Schaefer, Luke Kendrick; sisters Evaline Curry, Carolyn Hall; brother Howard Karstensen; numerous nieces and nephews.

Elna was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert J. Stallings, Sr. in September of 2003. They were married 57 years.

A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at Resthaven Cemetery in Richland. Viewing will be Monday the 17th 3:00-7:00 PM, and Tuesday morning 9:00-11:00 AM, both at Einan’s Funeral Home, Richland.
