From Richland, WA, US | Born in Pasco, Washington
Eugene Gilbert Schuster
In memory of Eugene G. Schuster who left us too early on January 13, 2006.
Gene was born on October 24, 1939 in Pasco, W A to Carl and Maxine Schuster and was raised in Kennewick, W A. He graduated in 1964 from Gonzaga University with a degree in law. Gene began his career as an attorney with the Critchlow & Williams law firm, in which he later became a partner. His law career was briefly interrupted when he served in the US Army 1965-1967 earning the rank of Captain. At the conclusion of his military service Gene returned to the Tri-Cities where he spent the rest of his life practicing law and raising his family. Gene was an attorney that was committed to making legal representation available to all, either through his personal assistance or by his long time association with the Benton Franklin Legal Aid Society. He raised his family in Richland and loved nothing more than watching his four sons many sporting events as they were growing up. Later in life he enjoyed spending time with his entire family, including his 7 grandkids. He also would travel to the Oregon Coast with his family any chance he could, hoping to find an antique nugget or two to add to his growing collection of ''stuff.'' Although Gene was seen as a serious person inside the courtroom, he was anything but that outside of it. This was shown to his friends and family though his unique sense of humor and care-free attitude, which we will all miss.
Gene is survived by his wife Cathy Krause, his mom Maxine Schuster, his sister Sally Preszler, his four sons Mike Darcy, Dan Jen, Steve Kristin, Mark Janet, his two step-daughters Heather and Laura, and by 7 grandkids. Gene is preceded in death by his dad Carl and brother Don.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 19, 2006, at Einan's Funeral Home, Richland. Viewing will be Wednesday the 18th from 5:00-8:00 PM, also at Einans. Memorial contributions can be made to the Benton Franklin Legal Aid Society, 418 N. Kellogg Suite E, Kennewick, WA 99336.
I want to extend my deepest sympathies to Cathy, Heather, Laura and Gene’s boys. I had the honor and pleasure of knowing Gene for 31 years – both as an employer and as a treasured friend. He was a great lawyer and a kind and generous person. He made my best friend very happy as a generous and loving husband. He loved his family and friends with all his heart. We will all miss him so much but are comforted by the many good memories of the happy times we shared with Gene – both at the office, the beach and at home. He is in a better place now and at peace. Until the gang can all be together again, Gene, keep the wine chilled and ready for us! We will miss you, big guy!
Our condolences to the entire Schuster Family. Thanks to Gene that family extents well beyond just the Schuster name. Gene made sure anyone who walked through his door felt like family. I first walked through Genes door as a 55 pound 2nd grader and although I may have looked a bit different from Genes “other” kids, he made sure I felt like part of the family. This membership came complete with an open door / open refrigerator policy and meant you were subject to Genes truly unique and great sense of humor. This was not the exception, but the rule, countless faces passed through Genes door and we all felt the same way, like family. Gene, you will be missed. Again, Jenn and I offer our condolences.
Gene was my sole liberal ally in a family of conservatives. His passion for people, his wit and his Dubya jokes provided for heated discussions as well as laughter and will provide fond memories for a very long time.
Our deepest condolences to the Schuster family. Your father was a special person who we were so fortunate to have known. He will be missed my many for he left a lasting impression on those who knew him. All of you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Our sincere condolences to all the Schuster family. Our whole family shares your sorrow. The Kaiser family has many, many fond memories of Gene, from his life as a young struggling lawyer, with his neighborhood backyard camp outs with the kids, to the successful, polished attorney he became. We will always cherish all the many memories our family had with his.

To the Family of Gene,
My heartfelt thoughts, prayers and sorrow are with you at this time of loss of Gene.
I remember when he came aboard the law office of Critchlow and Williams as Ed was my attorney at the time. I have watched as slowly we have lost three of TriCities best in the field; Ed, Dave and now Gene.
May God speed his journey Home and may He speed your healing in the terrible loss you are suffering.
Love,
Judy Willox

Brian Kirkpatrick
To the sons of Gene Schuster: a sincere message of condolences and sympathy on the death of your father from me and my children who were your friends: Cathi Sevenich, Dan Sevenich, and Jim Sevenich.
I especially remember Gene as a loving father and as a coach for Little League with Mr. George. He was a very loyal person and a good attorney.
Please know you will be remembered in our prayers and will think of you always.
I am so sorry I am unable to attend the funeral today. I am very sick with a cold and horrible cough. I don’t want to infect everyone.
Sincerely,
Jeanne Gardin

Our fondest memories of Gene will be, of course, the Little League years! We had great times on the “Road Trips” we took together.
Gene will always be treasured, as a dear friend! We’ll miss his special humor and wit for almost any occasion! When we think of Gene, there will always be a smile on our faces.
With much love,
Jerry and Debbie Maiuri

Gene was an excellent lawyer, neighbor and friend. I will remember him most for his great sense of humor which he was always willing to share. He will be missed by all of us.
Mike, Dan, Steve, and Mark,
My most heartfelt condolences to you and your family. I understand what a difficult time this is for all of you, and I hope that all your wonderful memories of him will ease your pain. He was loved by so many and will be missed immensly. I know that I have and will always remember his smile, sense of humor, and his love of a good steak on a grill surrounded by friends and family. Never a dull moment!
Always,
Tari
We will miss you Uncle Gene and our thoughts and prayers are with our cousins and their families. Love, Kathy, Ryan, and Brian.
Gene was an inspiration to me in my legal career; he was kind to me and treated me with respect when I started practicing law. He was a great advocate and I truly respected him.
I will also miss his humor, his crazy striped sweatpants, and his company at the annual crab feed! It was an honor to have known him and to have had the opportunity to practice law in the same community with him. My deepest sympathy to his family.
