Louise Hadley

IN MEMORY OF LOUISE MATTHEWS HADLEY

Louise was born in Salida, Colorado on Sunday, June 22, 1924, the daughter of Deedie and Daniel Matthews.

Louise attended grade school and high school in Salida, graduating in May 1942, and in June 1942 she enrolled in the Northern Colorado Teachers College in Greeley, Colorado. Upon graduation from the Teachers College, Louise and three other friends were employed to teach in the Highland School District, west of Yakima, Washington. There Louise taught for 25 years.

In 1968, Louise moved to Kennewick, Washington and taught in the Kennewick School District for 10 more years, retiring after a total of 35 years as a teacher.

Louise came to know the Lord as a young girl of fourteen and followed him all of her life. When asked what her life scripture was, her reply, 1 Peter 5:7, ''Casting all your care on Him; because He careth for you.'' KJV

Louise married Russell Hadley and they enjoyed traveling to many historical places over their married life. The places that friends traveled to or talked of doing so were ''traveled'' by Louise via books and in this way - she really traveled the whole world.

Russell and Louise both served as Elders for their Lord and were granted the honorable titles of Elder and Trustee Emeritus.

Louise continued teaching adult Sunday school classes until her health deteriorated. She was an avid Prayer Warrior and countless people's lives were touched by her example. She was very caring and generous with her love of all people.

She did volunteer work for the Lutheran Home and Social Services while she and Russell were married and continued with her volunteer work after his death by working at Kennewick General Hospital in the Gift Shop for many years.

Her parents, her two brothers and husband, Russell, preceded Louise in death. She leaves behind her large family of church members, who have the hope of seeing her again in heaven.

A celebration of Louise's life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 4, 2006 at First Christian Church, 19th and Olympia in Kennewick.

In lieu of flowers, Louise requested that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Shining Stars Pre-school, at the Kennewick Christian Church, 1921 S. Olympia St., Kennewick, Washington, 99337

  • If heaven has a good Mariner’s cheering section Louise will surely be one of the leaders!! While here on earth Louise was one of the ‘women of wisdom’ I am blessed to have known growing up. Her gentle and sometimes firm guidance could never be ignored! Her love and support of me never waivered – even when others did. She was always bright and happy – all the way down to her pink and purple! Thanks for the blessings Louise!

  • I want to extend my deepest sympathy to Paulette Zuehlke.

You were Louise’s daughter in every sense of the word except DNA. Louise freely expressed her love for you, even with people she barely knew, like me.

I can’t even count the times I’ve seen you calling to check on her or Russell over the past years. You have been so devoted to her, I am sure the loss must seem nearly unbearable.

Many of us knew the love shared between you and I know Louise was extremely grateful God brought you into her life. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

  • My sweet Louise,

My heartache is only comforted by the gracious hand of our Heavenly Father, whose feet you now sit at while the angels rejoice over your homecoming! You cannot know what you meant to me here and I cannot wait to see you there! Save me a spot on your street of gold! Ahhh, the things I’ve learned from you! Thank you for living Jesus out loud everyday! I love you so much and I do miss you! Until we meet again, your sister in Christ, Kym

  • When our large blended family began attending the Kennewick First Christian Church in 1999, Louise took us under her wing and made us feel welcome. She was our first Sunday school teacher at KFCC, and we have never had a better one! She is an incredible example of grace in action…someone who so clearly lives her life as an example of what a Christian should be. A kind, loving child of God who will be missed, but who is now with God in heaven…Love, the Trump Family
