Robert Allen Anthony

Robert Allen Anthony died peacefully at home with his wife by his side on February 28, 2006. Bob was born the oldest of three children on March 7, 1938, to Walter James Maxwell Anthony and Edith Loraine Hastings Anthony in a mining town called Uravan, CO, near Grand Junction. He and his brother were brought into the world by a traveling veterinarian. In 1942 the family hitchhiked to Vancouver, WA where Bob’s father worked for the Kaiser Shipyard. Bob graduated from high school in Washougal, WA in 1956. He married Mary Mick in 1960 in Camas, WA, and they had four children.

Bob served as a recruiter in the Air National Guard in Portland, OR for seven years before joining the police force in Camas, WA. He later moved to Renton where he served as a police officer for the City of Renton. In 1975, Bob reluctantly accepted a medical retirement from the police force, but in his heart, he remained a policeman throughout his life. After spending a short time as head of security for the Sheraton Hotel in Renton, Bob became a sales rep for Atlas Van Lines from 1977-1982.

In 1982 Bob married Audrey Galhoff. For several years they owned and managed Anthony’s Home Court, a vacation park in Long Beach, WA. In 1990 they moved to the Tri-Cities where Audrey was employed by the Department of Energy. On Christmas day in 1992 Audrey died from breast cancer. Bob met and married Emma Anthony in1993, and they resided in Richland. Bob joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1994, where he remained active until his health failed. He loved traveling, boating, camping, driving on the beach, studying history, playing ''oldies'' on his keyboard and other musical instruments, and taking friends and family to lunch at Hills Restaurant in Kennewick.

Bob was much loved and will be dearly missed by his wife and many friends, children, and grandchildren. He had a protective and loving manner towards children, and was a very involved father who took his children camping, boating, and traveling. Bob loved this country deeply, and taught his grandchildren to honor the flag and the servicemen who keep us free. He was a very generous, moral, and upright man.

Bob is survived by his wife, Emma Anthony and her five children and twelve grandchildren; his first wife, Mary Groshong and their four children, Renee Hooker of Buckley, WA, David Anthony of Spokane, WA, Todd Anthony of Camas, WA, Robin Smith of Puyallup, WA; his brother, Jim Anthony of Longview, WA, and his sister Norma Yaw of Pahrump, NV; his 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his second wife, Audrey.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, March 3 at the LDS church located at 895 Gage Blvd., with a viewing to be held the night before from 5-8:00 at Einan’s Funeral Home, and also at the church from 12:30-1:30 the day of the service. Grave side services will be held Monday, March 6 at 2 pm at the Washougal City Cemetery in Washougal, WA. • I will always remember the week I was able to spend with My Uncle Robert and Aunt Audrey at Anthony’s Home Court in Long Beach WA. We were able to spend a lot of quality time together. We were even able to go Salmon fishing with a friend of his. We didn’t catch anything that day, but was still a day I will never forget.

  • Please accept our deepest condolences in Bob’s passing. Unfortunately, at our ages we get so involved with our own families, we tend to drift away from relatives. Bob will be in our prayers and memory.
