Georgia Lee Martin

Georgia died at her home on May 9, 2006. She was born on Jan 5, 1941 in Klamath Falls, OR where she was raised and graduated from Henley High School in 1959.

She was married to Curt Smith in 1959 and had two sons, Darrin and David. In 1968 Georgia and her family moved to Grand View and Georgia began working on the Hanford site soon after that. She was divorced in 1970. In 1972 she and Gerry Martin were married and lived in a home they loved on the Yakima River South of West Richland until her death.

In 1985 Georgia acquired a BA degree from Evergreen State College in Olympia. In 2005 she finished the class room work for a Masters degree in counseling at St Martins College in Lacey WA and was planning to acquire an internship locally to complete the degree.

Georgia suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome from 1987 until 2001, but through it all she found the energy to spoil a grandchild. She was a member of the Community Unitarian Universalist Church in Kennewick and spent several years organizing Adult Education and Sunday Service programs.

Georgia’s most recent Spiritual quest brought her much joy, and the day she died she was to host a meditation session using the 23rd Psalm. Gerry thought Georgia was asleep when he came home from work, she looked so peaceful and at rest. We will miss her.

Georgia is survived by her husband Gerry, sons David and Darrin Smith, daughter Shannon Langland, grandchildren Aero Smith, Eden Smith, Remy Smith, Nicholaus Mandell and Alex Langland, mother Blanch Flowers and sisters Donna Brazil and Margie Lukins. She was preceded in death by her father George Flowers.

A Remembrance of Georgia's Life will be held at the Divine Fellowship, 513 Barth, Richland at 4pm May 13th. Please join us to share stories about her life and times. For more information about the service please call 736-0853 or email revans@tcfn.org.
