Patrick Larry Yeats
Patrick Larry Yeats Sr., age 79, passed away on May 6, 2006, at Richland, Washington. He was born in Yakima, WA, on March 25, 1927, the eighth child of Clarence Goddard Yeats and Gladys Margaret Whishaw.
He grew up in Yakima and left there after graduating from Yakima High School in 1945.
He married Irene Darco in 1950, and they were divorced after a few months. There were no children of this union. He then married Eugenie LaRoss in 1951, in San Rafael, CA, where their two children were born. He inherited a beautiful three year old daughter, Norene, from Eugenies prior marriage and treasured her as his own. They were divorced in 1971.
In 1972, he married Maxine Marks Lewis in Richland, WA. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1973.
There were no children born of this marriage, but considered the three children from each of their prior marriages as one family in their hearts. Except for a period from 1973 to 1981 when they moved to West Jordan, UT, they have spent all their married life in the Tri-City area.
Larry was a professional photographer for several years, but later worked in retail sales for a time. In 1982 he opened Creative Copies in Richland, which was one of the first self service photocopy businesses in the Tri-Cities, and he later added regular printing to the services offered. He and his wife sold this business in 1990 and partly retired. They did, however, continue to live in their apartment on Wellsian Way, continuing to manage the self-storage units for Shelby Rentals until 2004.
Larry enjoyed his various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, including that of several Stake Missions in the Tri Cities.
His family, both immediate and extended, were very important to him. He greatly enjoyed all the grandchildren and great grandchildren which he shared with his wife Maxine. He had a special way with children and they all loved him.
He is survived by his wife Maxine; his son Patrick Larry Yeats Jr. and wife Joanne of Lindon, Utah; and daughter Deborah Yeats Harmon of Nehalem, Oregon; also by his stepchildren Michael Ray Ostler Lewis and wife Debbie of Pasco; Christi Ann Lewis of Moses Lake; and Candice Jo Lewis of St. George, Utah; and by his sister Barbara Ray Cobb of Olympia and brother Bruce Yeats Peggy of Camby, Oregon, as well as several nieces and nephews. His former wife Eugenie, who later married his brother Bill, is also still living and resides in Portland, Oregon. At this time, he has eighteen grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He had a gentle, loving spirit and a good sense of humor; and will be greatly missed by both family and friends.
Funeral services conducted by Bishop Ewell of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm, at the LDS chapel on Jadwin Avenue in Richland. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland.
Pat & Debbie,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. My deepest sympathies to you and your families. God Bless.
Your Old Friend,
Todd Erickson
Maxine,
We have enjoyed your friendship since you moved to Richland, and we’re happy you are back in the ward. These times are always a mixture of sadness and joy–sadness in parting, yet the joy of wonderful memories and the promise of Celestial reunion. These last few years have been difficult ones, I’m sure; yet, that will not cloud the many wonderful years you had together and the promises of the Lord from your covenants with Him in the temple. We are truely a Celestial couple and I will always see the two of you together. May God bless you and your loved ones at this time and always.
I meant to say “You” are truly and celestial couple. I hope that was understood. I tried to go back and correct, but I couldn’t figure out how to do that.
