From Richland, WA, US | Born in Corry, Pennsylvania

Margaret Ann Liechty

Margaret Liechty, 72, was called home to our Lord on September 15, 2006. She was born July 31, 1934 to Norma Alford and Walter Gordon in Corry, PA. She moved to Richland in 1955 with her late husband and two small children. Margaret worked at Kadlec Hospital as a clerk, and after receiving her certification, she worked as an x-ray technician. She worked for nearly 40 years in the Richland office of Tri-City Radiology.

She leaves behind her husband of nearly 40 years, Wes; daughter Denise Jim Buelt; son Daniel W. Dykes; step-son Rick Karen Liechty; step-son Jim Chris Liechty; step-daughter Jean Davis; step-son Jeff Lini Liechty; grandchildren Evan and Laura Buelt; Elizabeth, Christopher, and Patrick Dykes; Scott, Shaun, and Kristen Liechty and Robin Rhoads; Jared, Joel, Jennifer, and John Davis; Ryan, Steven, Michael, and Kylie Liechty, and four great-grandchildren.

She also leaves brothers Bill Susan Gordon of Emlenton, PA and David Kathy Gordon of Brookville, PA, sisters Nannette Ray Pugh of Buffalo, NY, and Barbara Bill Monday of Rome, GA, all of whom visited Margaret during her illness in recent weeks, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret loved gardening, reading murder mysteries, taking care of her cats, but her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren grow into adulthood. She was blessed with a keen intellect, a spontaneous sense of humor and an abundant curiosity. One of our favorite memories of her will be on her 70th birthday when she decided to celebrate by parachuting out of a plane at the Richland Airport. We will miss that warrior spirit very much.

Einan’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Per Margaret’s request, there will be no service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Benton-Franklin Humane Society.

The family would like to thank Dr. Stuart Freeman for his kind and thoughtful attention during Margaret’s short illness, and Dr. Jeremy Blanchard and Dr. Daniel Niendorff and the wonderful nursing staff at Kadlec Medical Center’s Critical Care Unit for the outstanding professional care and compassion they provided to Margaret. We would also like to acknowledge the excellent staff at the Richland Life Care facility for their kind and compassionate care.

  • We have lost a dear friend, but we have many memories. Margaret and I both worked in Acctg/Kadlec and she was a fun individual. I am saddened, but she is now at peace and without pain. I have written a letter to both expressing my feelings and loss. Sympathy to all – Mille

  • As her son-in-law, I will never forget the dinners at our house when my folks were in town. Margaret always had several jokes and stories to tell, and they made my Mom and Dad laugh. She was the life of the party.
