Nancy Catherine Amaya
Nancy, surrounded by her immediate family, succumbed peacefully on September 29, 2006 after a two-week battle with bronchial pneumonia.
Born January 3, 1952, Nancy spent her early childhood helping her Mom care for foster children in their home in Denver, Colorado. Nancy graduated from North High School in Denver and was attending Colorado University in Boulder where she met her life-long husband Larry Amaya. They were married July 24, 1971. Nancy spent her life caring for husband, three children William, Winifred and Daniel, and eventually spoiling seven grandchildren.
Larrys railroading career with Burlington Northern took them to many states including Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, Texas and ending up in the Tri-Cities, here in Washington. This kept her very busy keeping the kids focused on their schoolwork and activities. Her children were her life.
A private service was held October 2, 2006 at St. Josephs Catholic Church. Nancys wish was to be cremated and her ashes taken to the ocean, which she so dearly loved.
