Norval Jackson ”Jack” Aslin, JR.

Norval Jackson ''Jack'' Aslin passed away peacefully on November 30, 2006 at his home in Kennewick, WA. He was born in Camas, Washington on June 3, 1929, the second of three children to Alyce and Norval Aslin. He attended school in Camas and Washougal, WA. After high school he joined the Merchant Marines and was deployed to Alaska and China. Jack often recounted many interesting experiences from that time, among which was riding in a rickshaw. After the Merchant Marines he spent time in the Navy. In 1961 he married Edna ''Edie'' Dieringer, and he built their home in Washougal, WA where their two sons were born and raised. Jack and Edie celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in August of 2006. He was employed by Crown Zellerbach paper company, retiring in 1991 after 45 years of service as an electrician. Some of his happiest days were spent sitting in his boat with Edie, or his friend Kenny, a fishing line dangling in the water waiting for the big one to bite. After his retirement they moved to Bullhead City, Arizona where he enjoyed the hot dry climate. The summer months found Jack and Edie heading for their cabin at Twin Lakes, in the mountains of northeast Washington state. Wanting to be closer to their family they later moved to Kennewick, Washington in 2001 where he was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. As his health began to fail his faith and love of Jesus Christ especially in the Eucharist became greater and more evident, allowing him to accept God's will for himself and his family.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Edie, three sons, Michael, Matthew and Douglas, his brother Charles, five grandchildren, seven nieces and one nephew.

Visitation will be Tuesday December 5th from 5:00-8:00 PM at Einan’s Funeral Home, Richland. The Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Mass of Resurrection will be offered on December 7, at 3 p.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Kennewick, WA. Interment will be at 1:30 PM on Friday, December 8th at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, 2108 W. Entiat, Kennewick, WA 99336.
