Louise D. Glover

Louise D. Glover passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2007, at her home in Kennewick. Marion Louise Darling was born February 21, 1917, in Charleston, WV to Charles and Anna Darling. From a young age, she was known as Louise. Her family included three brothers: Charles, Morgan and Robert.

Louise and John Glover were married in 1941 in New Albany, IN. During the WWII years, they lived in Indiana, Alabama and West Virginia where John worked in national defense plants. In 1948, they ''packed up'' their four children and moved across the country by train, arriving in Pasco in the middle of the night. They were welcomed by a ''T1i-City Termination Wind'' the next morning! Louise was ready to go back! They moved in with friends until they could be assigned housing in Richland. Louise grew to love the area, often saying, ''I love these bare old hills''. She ultimately lived in the Tri-Cities for a total of 47 years spanning two different stays. In 1951, their fifth child was born in Richland.

She was a wonderful mom and homemaker. She ran an in-home daycare for a few years. Later, she worked as a dental assistant at the Richland Dental Clinic to help put children through college. One year, there were four children in college. In spite of running a busy household, Louise always found time to follow her children's activities and enjoy playing golf and bridge with friends.

In 1967, they left the area, moving to San Jose, CA then to Wilmington, NC. It was there that her grandson, Michael, affectionately known as her sixth child was born. Louise and John returned to the Tri-Cities in 1978 to spend their retirement years and resided in Kennewick. They became active members of the Tri-City Country Club. Her last three years were spent residing at Charbonneau Retirement Residence where she was surrounded by good friends and a wonderful, caring staff.

Louise is survived by her children Jack Glover Joy, Richland; Hallie Glover, Walnut Creek, CA; Janet Glover Wade Cole, Olympia; and Gail Dill Joe, Greenville, SC. She had 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren: Kevin Glover; Janet Schuster Mark, their children Jack, Jacob and Max; Jason Glover Jennifer, their children Stella and Levi; Darin and James Glover; Suzanne Speer; Mary Shannon Kelley-Jones Dennis, their children Heaven and Kai; Michael Smith; Paul and Lisa Dill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers; husband, John, in June, 2001; and daughter, Anna Speer, in December, 2001.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, January 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Meadow Springs Presbyterian Church, 215 Keene Rd., Richland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Louise's name to Hospice at The Chaplaincy, 2108 W. Entiat, Kennewick, WA 99336.
