Patricia Voorman
Patricia Mahoney Voorman, 76, formerly of Midland Park, died March 15 after a brief illness. Her life will be celebrated at a memorial service to be held at the West Side Church in Richland, on Friday, March 23 at 6 pm. She would be honored if donations were made to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center or mid-Columbia Girl Scouts in lieu of flowers,
Pat was born to Hazel and Edward Mahoney in Yonkers, New York on July 24, 1930. She married Henry Voorman in 1949, and settled in Hanks hometown of Midland Park, New Jersey. Pat graduated from Montclair State College BA Home Economics and taught at the New Jersey School for the Blind and middle schools.
In 1980, Pat and Hank moved to the Knoxville, TN area, where she became editor of a major crafting magazine and eventually started Unicorn Studio, selling parts for dolls and teddy bears.
After Hank died, Pat retired and in 1994 moved to Richland, WA to be near her daughter. She continued teaching as a volunteer for the county extension and enjoyed doing anything that involved fabric. She was active with Allied Arts, the Desert Fiber Arts Guild and other fiber crafting groups.
As an active singer in Sweet Adelines International for over 30 years, Pat was a member of the 1979 International Championship Chorus. In Washington, she sang in Rolling Hills Chorus with her daughter until an illness took away her voice.
Pat will be missed by her family and friends including her daughter, Evelyn Weiss Rich of West Richland, sister-in-law Dotty Mahoney and niece Diane Pivarnik of Florham Park, New Jersey plus Hanks sister and brothers.
So sorry to learn of Pat’s death. We met at Person to Person and connected immediately because of our art interests. She visited me in my condo a few months ago, then I hadn’t seen or heard from her. Thought of her last night and then this morning saw the notice in the paper. She was a great lady and you have good memories.
My sincere sympathy is with Patricia’s family and friends. She was a good neighbor and very interesting person to talk to I live next door in the white and blue house. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.
Dear Pat, I know that you have your voice back now and that you are harmonizing with our Lovely Angels up above. It’s OK to tell them to put their violins down for a tune or two! Thank you for sharing our Music in Harmony. Love in Harmony,
Cindi
I will miss Pat deeply. She was a dear friend.
I pray that the Lord will wrap you in His love and comfort you.
My family and I will miss having Pat as a neighbor. She was a sweet lady, and always thought highly of my daughter and son. May you have comfort. She will be remembered. Rev 21:4
