Claude Turnbow, Jr.

Claude Turnbow, Jr., 77, passed away April 25, 2007 after a brief illness, with his loving family at his side.

Claude was born July 19, 1929 at Burkburnett, Texas. After serving several years in the U.S. Navy, he worked for Bechtel Power Corp. for 20 years. He and his family moved to the Tri-Cities in 1973, where he worked as construction manager for Bechtel in building the Fast Flux Test Facility.

After leaving the Tri-Cities in 1978 he was construction manager on several projects on the east coast, including Susquehanna, PA, Hope Creek, NJ and Brown’s Ferry, AL.

Claude retired in 1988 and spent the last 19 years enjoying golfing, fishing, and traveling in his motor home with his beloved wife, Dorothy.

Preceding him in death were his two sons, Kenneth in 1997 and Gary in 2001, whom he loved so dearly and missed so very much.

Claude and Dorothy returned to the Tri-Cities in 2001 to be closer to the family and made their home in Kennewick.

He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Dorothy, of the home; son, Bill of Benton City, WA; daughter, Jo Hanson of Portland, OR; sister, June Allen of Wichita Falls, TX. Survivors also include nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Claude was dearly loved and will be so greatly missed by his family. We will always have a deep, sorrowful vacancy in our hearts until someday we may all be reunited with our loved ones.

A closed casket funeral service will be held at Einan’s Funeral Home chapel at 11:00 AM Sunday, May 6, 2007. Private family graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens following the chapel service.
