To the entire Saueressig Family…
It is with deep sympathy that our thoughts go out to you in this time of sorrow.
I truly wish I had the opportunity to meet Bernie before he retired; I remember many conversations out here at work from the likes of Herm Winters, Herbie Dale, Oscar Strunk, etc. that painted your father in a very colorful light and thinking this is the kind of guy I could work with / for. They always spoke of him in such a way that you knew quite clearly that there was a deep respect and admiration as well as a real fondness for his sense of humor and candor.
Paul, Dave, Lori et all, I have no doubt the memories will be long, lasting, and filled with laughter…Take care, and God Bless.
Marlene, I’m so sorry to hear about Bernie’s passing. We go back a long ways. As you know, I played many, many years of fastpitch softball, and Bernie always wanted to know when we were in Longview. He always went home for a visit and watched us play fastpitch.
I enjoyed all of the great times at the Uptown playing suffleboard. I also enjoyed bowling with Bernie. He will be dearly missed.
I got to have a drink with him at the T-Room not too long ago, and it was great visiting with him again.

i love you grandpa
Bernie was an excellent mentor while I was employed at Rockwell Hanford Co. He always insisted that any ideas for improvement had to stand the test of practicality. His grounding in practicality has served me well.
Aunt Marlene & the Cousins,
Our thoughts and prayers have been with you all week. Losing someone as special as Bernie is never easy, but your faith in God will help you prevail in these sad times. One thing I will always remember about Bernie is when you guys would be here in Indiana talking about any newold cars he may have aquired and talking sports. He will be missed very much by all.

Memories shall keep him with us always.

We were all saddened and surprised to learn of Bernie’s passing. Our condolences and heartfelt sympathies go out to the entire Saueressig family from the Gutierrez clan. Coming from a large family myself I can almost imagine the sorrow and loss that must be felt in the passing of the leader of the band.
I was always impressed by his passion for classic automobiles. May you all find comfort in your faith and know he now has found endless competition for his love of cribbage. Memories live on forever.
To the Saueressigs,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your very special family.
I appreciate everything Bernie did for me at Hanford he was instrumental in giving me a start as an RM. May the Lord Jesus comfort you all during this time.
Dear Marlene and Family,
It’s been many years since our Toledo days but we remember Bernie so well and the fun he used to provide at Rossford. One memorable occasion was the singing of ‘Poor Butterfly’ w/ Bob Fiertz atop the pool table at one of our many barracks parties.
We have a nice memory of the two of you at our Cincinnati Reunion.
We send our sincere sympathy to you and all of your family. God bless you all.

Dear Marlene & Family,
It is with sorrow that we received the news about Bernie. Please accept our heartfelt sympathy at your loss. Bernie was one of a kind & a special person who will always hold a dear place in our hearts. He was a leader at Rossford as I’m sure he was in every aspect of life. I’ll always remember the softball games & the good times after at the Buckeye Inn. I also
shared his love for fast pitch softball. I’m sorry that we couldn’t make the reunion in San Diego, it was our loss.
May God comfort you and your family as only He can & may He give you the peace that passes all understanding now and in the future.
Love,
Vince & Ruth Valva
Marlene & Family,
Our sincere condolences. Bernie enriched the lives of all of us while serving in the Army at Toledo, OH. He was so resourceful and dedicated to everything he did and did it with zest and compassion. If there wasn’t something “going on”, Bernie made something “go on”. He initiated and organized the first reunion of our Army Unit after 25 years of separation and it has led to many pleasureable subsequent get-togethers. We always looked forward to seeing you and Bernie and hope our acquaintance and friendship continues.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Saueressig family. The Alley family always had and always will a connection to Bernie and his family. My dad`s friend, his best man at his wedding, and my mom and I were involved in Bernie and Marlene`s wedding. I already know football season will never be the same if I can`t pick games and talk fantasy football with Bernie.
Marlene,
My heart goes out to you and your family. What blessings Bernie had with such a wonderful large family, fruitful marriage and fulfilling life. Love to you, your children and grandchildren.
I have long and wonderful memories of him..To many to write here,I want to say, He was my mentor,,He help me so much and cared for all of us..I always thought of him being our Matriarch,,His arms extended to all his people at work…We were blessed..and he is blessed…He had you Marlene,,,,Rick Riccobuono
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. Our sincere sympathy. God Bless you all during this difficult time of loss.
My thoughts are with all of you
Dave, My condolences to you and your family. I was sorry to hear that your father has passed. I bet he was a great guy. Anyone who has lost a parent knows the pain of grief for that passing. I pray for you and your family as you go through this together. May you find comfort in each other, and in God.
Bernie was a good friend for nearly twenty years. He was everything noted in his obituary, and much more. He will be missed by ever so many whose lives he touched in such a personal and caring manner.
I am very saddened to learn of Bernies passing. I always enjoyed seeing him at cribbage tournaments and until recently at grass roots. I believe he beat me the last time we played, which I think was in Reno last February. My sincere condolences to Marlene and the Saueressig family.
my thoughts and prayers are with the Saueressig family in the loss of Bernie. you were very fortunate to have him for a father, grandfather, etc.; the world is a better place because of him. i was fortunate to know Bernie and he always treated me with dignity and respect. He would be proud of the way his children always conducted themselves. God Bless and keep you all especially during this time.
In His Service
Ray
Heartfelt Condolences to Marlene and surviving family members of the Saueressig family.
May you all find comfort & strength in cherished memories past, and in the knowledge that Bernie is resting, peacefully, now.
However,my mind’s eye already views Bernie organizing a one-armed bandit “corporation” up there in heaven with the cribbage groupies who have predeceased him or any other blythe Spirit who wants to chip in for Bernie was a very resourceful, honest and well-respected person, here on earth who has touched many lives.
Sincerely,
Ann Rose
Bernie was a great guy who patiently taught me a HUGE amount about Hanford’s history. I will always be indebted to him.
It was late after a bowling tournament in Longview WA where I really understood Bernies passion for life. After the rest of the bowling team was heading to bed, Bernie convinced two of us to join him at the Tony Romas. Blush wine with that boys! he said as he pointed to us as if to challenge our ability to keep up with him. Throughout and after the meal he shared his stories of his life and a common theme arose. Bernie was passionate about whatever he did. Whether it was cribbage or Cadillacs he approached it with a fervor that we would all hope to follow. Thank you Bernie for that lesson in life.
From the entire King family, our condolences.
Not many of us have our ethical fiber critically tested by life. Bernie did and he stood strong. Well done, Bernie!
