Micah Louis Prantle
We want to tell you about the most amazing person we know, our son, Micah Louis Prantle. Micah passed away on August 7, 2007 at Children’s Hospital in Seattle, WA. He was born on July 27, 1995 at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, WA. He was 12 years old. Micah lived in Pasco, WA for 10 years before moving to Racine, WI with his family.
Micah’s true passion was to play wheelchair basketball on the Wheelin’ Wizards team in Milwaukee, WI. There we saw young people taking their physical weaknesses and turning them into incredible strengths.
Micah loved to fish. Two weeks ago, he caught a 12 pound Chinook on Lake Michigan. He cherished the opportunity to drive the boat.
He is survived by his parents: Julian & Cheryl Prantle, his sisters, Mariah & Julianne, and his brother, Philip, all of Racine, WI. Grandparents: LeRoy & Sharon Prantle of Pasco, WA and Orlynn & Marlene Barnett of Auburn, WA. In addition, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 12, 2007 at Country Christian Center, 5500 W. Sagemoor Rd. Pasco, WA. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 11, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Einan’s Funeral Home in Richland, WA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wheelin’ Wizards wheelchair basketball team.
Micah taught us about determination, perseverance, and love. He touched the lives of children and adults everywhere he went. Now he is running with Jesus in a whole body that he didn’t experience on this earth!
It has been two months since Micah passed away. I miss him so much! We had so many great memories together. I will always hold him in my heart! He was very special to me! Micah was my cuddler, card playing buddy, and special friend. Every day I miss his hugs.
He touched so many lives. God brought him to this earth to make a difference. He taught me about determination, perseverance, and love.
Micah loved to play practical jokes on me. He loved to lock me out of the van. I would be on the outside trying to open the door, and he would be on the inside continually locking the door as I tried to unlock it. I will always remember seeing his face laughing hysterically. On April Fools Day this year, he was laying in my bed waiting for me to brush my teeth. I started tasting this terrible taste in my mouth. Micah started laughing and I realized he had put salt on my toothbrush. We had a great laugh together.
We also cried together at times. His strong will was a challenge, but his sensitive heart was his greatest treasure. I miss that part about him the most.
Micah I will always love you! One day we will meet again in heaven. You will be able to introduce me to Jesus, and we will celebrate together your 12 year old birthday that we didn’t get a chance to celebrate. I love you forever!
Love,
Your Momma’s
Micah and me always wrestled. We had a lot of fun! I love him! He was my friend!
Love,
Philip
Micah’s 7 year old brother
I liked watching Micah play wheelchair basketball. I liked to watch Philip and Micah wrestle. I liked sitting on Micah’s back! I liked the hair ponies Micah gave me. I love Micah!
Love,
Julianne

What a SHOCK. I just found out about Micah. He was an AWSOME boy. I remember when we would be working TMT and Cheryl would bring kids to see you for lunch. Micah made me smile. What a smart determined little boy. I remember his cute laugh and great smile. I’m sure he is having fun in heaven. Your family is awsome. I’ll never forget you guys. Please email me anytime. I’m still in Richland, still taking care of my mom. My grandson Kai Julian says hello. God bless your family. Terri

Julian, Cheryl and family. I wanted you to know that you have been on our hearts since we received the news of Micah’ going home.
In case you hadn’t heard, we took a few moments before each Upward Soccer Game yesterday to honor Micah. Phil George read a note written by Kirt Shaffer. These are the words penned by Kirt, “Micah was an athlete among 16-17 other athletes in our two team boys soccer league in the summer 2005 season. When I first saw Micah standing there next to his father in his leg braces struggling to keep his balance I remember my first reaction, How in the world do I include him in the teams practices and games? Upon greeting Micah and his father, I remember Micahs fathers first words play him like any other team member, YOU CANT BREAK HIM.
Micahs courage to play a sport that challenged his body to perform in so many ways, his gritty determination during games just to even move let alone dribble the ball downfield had a larger than life impact not only on his team mates and coaches, his life impacted the other players and those simply watching the game.
By anyone elses standards they would not have attempted such a physical sport with such a disability. Micah would show up each week with a smile that could barely fit on his face and an attitude that melted our hearts. I still tell people of the most amazing athlete Ive had the privilege to coach.
I look forward to the opportunity to share with him the impact he had on so many of us and to celebrate with him over the Ultimate goal that he has finally scored.”
Phil added this verse, with which I’m sure you are intimately aquainted now:
“1 Thess 4:13& 14
Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”
We’ve missed having the Prantles involved in Upward Soccer.
May the God of all comfort comfort you now!
In Christ,
Kent

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Prantle
I just wanted to send you my condolences to you and your family. I did not know Micha very well but I attended school at country. Best wishes to you and your family!
Sincerely, Dan Gangon
I didn’t get a chance to meet Micah, but I go to Apostolic Faith church in Racine and know some of the kids he’d been in Bible quizzing with.
I was shocked by his passing because I’ve also been a lifelong I’m 30 yrs old hydrocephalus patient. I just had my 2nd revision about a year ago, so this really hit home for me.
I really wish I’d known Micah. I’m so sorry for your loss, but glad that Micah has had the opportunity to go Home…life is so precious…
Our hearts are with the Prantle Family. Micah was one of our special Spina Bifida kids that came to the Special Needs Clinic at Childrens Hospital in Milwaukee. He will truly be missed!!!!
