Lucille ”Lucie” Florence Shaffstall
Lucille ''Lucie'' Shaffstall, age 88, of Kent, WA, and formerly of the Tri Cities, WA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 20, 2007. She was residing at Talbot Rehab Center in Kent.
Lucille was born in Yakima, WA, on April 2, 1919, to Mary and Max Luckenbach. She graduated from Davis High School. Lucille married Marion Shaffstall in 1940 and they eventually ended up in Pasco, WA, where Marion worked for the railroad. They raised five children. After Marion's passing in 1972, Lucille moved to the west side of the state to live with her brother Walter Luckenbach. There she proudly earned a nursing degree to become an LPN. Years later she retired from nursing and moved back to the Tri Cities with Walter.
She embraced her faith and her church family at Bethlehem Lutheran. She also remained close to her friends in the railroad Carmen's Auxiliary. When her eyesight was good she was a member of the Kennewick General Hospital and they became the beneficiary of many beautifully embroidered dish towels, knitted afghans, and loom yarn hats. While in the Tri Cities, Lucille resided at Desert Villa Kennewick and Richland Gardens Richland. She made many friends and thoroughly enjoyed rousing games of Pinochle and Bingo. She loved music, reading, learning new words, and memorizing passages.
Lucille is survived by sons: Lonnie Shaffstall Joan nee Manuel of Chula Vista; Richard Shaffstall Judy nee Noonchester of Wenatchee, WA; Steven Shaffstall Mary nee Lynch of Kent, WA; and daughter, Kristine Allen Gerald Dixon of Richland, WA; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Survivors also include brothers: Kenneth Luckenbach Rachel nee Cardin of New Jersey; Robert Luckenbach Linda of Florida; and sister-in-law Anna Luckenbach of Texas.
In addition to her husband Marion, Lucille is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Raymond, Lovine, Victor, Alvin, Walter, Edgar and Robert Luckenbach; and her only sister, Elsie Dopps. Her beloved daughter, Mary Sparkhawk Rory passed away in 1994.
Services will be at Einan's Funeral Chapel in Richland, WA on Saturday, September 29, at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at City View Cemetery in Pasco, WA, where Marion is buried. Lucille passed away just two days prior to their 67th wedding anniversary. They will have a heavenly anniversary celebration.
Lucille was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed. In death forget all that saddens our souls; celebrate all the good times we came to know and remember as she would say, ''Do not grieve for me, I am free''.
Lucie you are such a special lady and will certainly be missed. Thank you for your GREAT witness to others in reference to our Lord and Savior. John and I find comfort in knowing you are in in heaven with HIM. Now as for partying in heaven….we know your smiling. You were an angel to us sent by God. I treasure the Bible you gave me and often recall all those passages your recited to us on our way to church. We love you Lucy and we will see you again.
Your friends in His Love,
John and Jeanine Dalzell
