Susie Ann Haney

Susie A. Haney, daughter of the late Alva and Macel Johnson, born on March 6, 1935 in St. Paul, Arkansas, passed away on October 2, 2007. For 57 years she was the cherished wife and forever sweetheart and best friend of Roland Haney; eternally the treasured mother to daughter Jacquelyn Jaye Cammann and husband Jerry of West Richland, and sons Thomas Haney and wife Arlene of Vancouver, WA, and Roland Haney Jr and wife Penny Jo of Chehalis, WA; the cherished grandmother ''Nanny'' to Julie Morgan and husband Cole of Kennewick, WA, Thomas Haney Jr of Las Vegas, NV, Nickolas Haney of Richland, WA, and the late Nathan Haney; the adored great-grandmother to Lexi Woodford, Katie Woodford, and Lily Morgan; the beloved sister to Bob Johnson of Barstow, CA, Bill Johnson and wife Joyce of Spokane, WA, Jim Johnson and wife Peggy of Atlanta, GA, and Janice Chunn and husband Malcom of Richland, WA; admired aunt to special nephew Mike Chunn of Seattle, WA; numerous nieces and nephews, step-grand and great-grandchildren; and loyal friend to many. In August 1955 Susie earned a Licensed Practical Nurse license and provided private nursing services in the Tri-Cities. Together with her husband she also owned Haney Construction, built and owned the Stalag 13 Tavern in North Richland, and built and owned Haney's Inn also in North Richland.

Through her amazing courage, endurance and faith, she was a 7 year cancer survivor. Even though she was admirably strong, subjected to three surgeries within three weeks compromised a full recovery.

“God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be. So He wrapped His arms around you And whispered, ‘Come to me.’ You didn't deserve What you went through And so He gave you rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best.”

As the matriarch of her family, she was the ultimate definition of wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her natural kind heart and gentle soul left a lasting impression on all who were blessed to know her, and our hearts are full with the love, kindness, forgiveness, and generosity she gave unconditionally.

It broke our hearts to see her go, but she didn't go alone. A part of us went with her the day God called her home. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Honoring her wishes, a Graveside Service will be Monday, October 8, 2007, 1:00 p.m. at Einan's Funeral Home, 915 By-Pass Highway, Richland, WA. Visitation times: Saturday the 6th from 5pm8pm, and Sunday the 7th from 1 pm - 5pm.

  • We have been friends of Roland and Susie for some fifty seven years. We have enjoyed many happy outings with them. Susie was one of the finest Ladies I have known, and a good dancer.

One night we was out with them and got to talking about southern cooking, breakfast was the subject. I stated that I had not had a good southern Breakfast in a lot off years. She invited us over and fixed one and it was very good. Lots of fond memories. Love to all the family, it’s a terrible loss from the Trents.
