Adele Theresa Kelly
Passed away December 8, 2007 in her sleep at the home of her daughter Frances Gordon in Benton City, WA.
Adele was born September 28, 1915 in Yonkers, New York to Rose Waligura and Simon Doshna. Her older brother Arthur was born in 1913 and died in the spring of 1916. Her younger brother Frank was born in 1920.
In 1920 Rose and Simon, with Adele and infant son Frank, moved to Coeur d'Alene Idaho. They made their home with Rose's parents Johanna Martinedes and Paul Waligura. Simon worked in the lumber industry. Mom loved the lake and often said ''swimming was her thing''. Adele had a very happy and active childhood in the Fort Grounds surrounded by aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Adele received her education at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy. Adele along with all the family was a member of Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Adele married Charles S. Morgan March 24, 1938. Charles and Adele moved to Arkansas where their daughter Rose Mary was born. They returned to Idaho and made their home in Orogrande where Charles worked in the mining industry. Their second daughter Frances was born in Spokane, WA. Their son Charles was born in Coeur d'Alene.
During World War II, Charles served in the Navy and Adele moved her children to Farragut Navel Base on Lake Pend Oreille, near Athol, Idaho.
Adele rode the bus from Athol to Coeur d' Alene where she worked the swing shift at Western Union to support her family. Adele and Charles divorced in 1946 and she moved her little family back to Coeur d'Alene. Her home was in Mullen Park just four blocks from the Western Union where she continued to work. Mom raised her three children with the live-in help of her beloved Aunt Elsie Waligura. Adele gave her children a wonderful childhood. All three children were educated at Saint Thomas Aquinas Grade School and taught by some of the same Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary that taught her. We all have wonderful memories of school functions, and church services and especially Mother of Perpetual Help devotions on Tuesday night.
In 1952 Adele married Roy Kelly. They lived in Pasco, WA and in 1956 moved to Anchorage, Alaska. Roy passed away in 1968, Adele stayed in Anchorage where she worked at Providence Hospital from 1968 until her retirement in 1982. Adele moved to Kennewick in 1983 to be near family.
Adele was pre-deceased by her mother and father, infant brother Arthur Doshna, brother Frank Doshna, son-in-law Kenneth Gordon and great grandson Nicholas James Silva.
Adele is survived by her eldest daughter and husband Rose Mary and Donald Mock of Mesa, AZ; Daughter Frances Gordon of Benton City, WA; Son, Charles Morgan of Moses Lake, WA; Cousin, Mary Carlson of Coeur d'Alene, ID; Fifteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
