Barbara K. Krein

Barbara Krein, 68, of Connell, WA passed away on January 29, 2008 after a long courageous fight with leukemia. She was born on January 27, 1940 in Cawker City, KS. Graduated in 1958 from Cawker City High School, and lived in Connell since 1958. She worked for many years as a cook for the North Franklin School District, and as a food grader for the WSDA. She was a supporter of the Meals on Wheels program.

She was preceded in death by her father Melvin Winkel.

She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years Don: son Jeff Marti Billings, MT: Mother Lucile Wiles Phrus Cawker City, KS.; Sisters Mary Ellen Terry Dick Council Bluffs, IA.; Janice Myers Jim Lees Summitt, MO; Brothers Pat Winkel Marion Greenwood, MO: Mike Winkel Colleen Pratt, KS; Many nephew and nieces and 6 grand children.

A memorial service will be held at Gideon Lutheran Church in Connell on February 4, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the Gideon Lutheran Church, Connell or local Meals on Wheels program.

  • Dear Don, You are in my thoughts and prayers. I have many fond memories of Barbara,including the many times I was able to share God’s peace with her during Sunday services. One of my favorite memories is of you two dancing the polka….you were SO good. Barb will be missed by many. May God grant you His peace. Cheryl
