Jacquelyn Fitting

Jackie Fitting, 80, died peacefully following a short illness on Friday, February 22, 2008, surrounded by her family in Seattle.

Jackie had been a resident of the Tri-Cities since 1962.

The youngest of four daughters and one son, Jackie was born on July 21, 1927 to Lyle C. and Ethel Taylor in Pullman, Washington.

Many of her favorite childhood memories include her brother Dick and the rolling streets of Pullman ‘on the hill across from WSC’. Jackie received her elementary and part of her high School education in Pullman.

Her childhood mentors were certainly her older sisters Haldine, Joyce, and Jeanne. Jackie has told many stories of spending childhood and teen summers with her sisters and their husbands. The bond between the Taylor girls was strong and even though her sisters preceded her in death she held on to the importance of her sisters with adoring love for her wonderful nieces and nephews.

Jackie met her husband Wayne Franklin Fitting at St. Maries High School in Northern Idaho where they both graduated in 1945. Both she and Wayne were very active in school, particularly dramatics and as a member of the yearbook staff. Following graduation she worked as secretary for an attorney while Wayne was in the army and they married October 26, 1947 in St. Maries where they spent the next eight years enjoying the closest friends imaginable and raising their three sons.

Wayne and Jackie moved to Connell in 1955 and founded Desert Oil Company which they very successfully ran together for the next twenty five years.

In 1962 they moved to Pasco to expand their company and developed a close network of friends while raising their sons with a great zeal for family activity and sharing their wit and fun with their many, many life-long friends. They spent their last few years together living in Meadow Springs next to the fourteenth green. Jackie’s love and devotion to her husband Wayne was renowned and their marriage was a beautiful thing admired by all; Wayne passed away in 1985.

Jackie was extremely well known for hosting the finest of dinner parties. She had the uncanny ability to produce gourmet events for large groups with seemingly no effort, all-the-while entertaining with laughter, clever charm, and all with a wine glass in her hand.

Jackie is predeceased by her parents, her best friend and husband Wayne, and her three sisters and one brother.

She leaves behind three sons and their wives: Michael and Sherry Fitting of Redmond, Patrick and Toni Fitting of Bellevue, and David and Lisa Fitting of Maple Valley. She also leaves behind her seven grandchildren all of whom also live in the Seattle area: Kristen Fitting, Jessica Fitting-Bill, Lindsay Fitting, Nathan Fitting, Daniel Fitting, Lennon Fitting, Riley Fitting, and two great-grandchildren: Julian Keeton and Kennedy Bill.

The Family wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to the staff and her friends at Charbonneau Retirement Center in Kennewick for making her past three years a memorable and rewarding living experience.

There will be a Celebration of Life at 4p.m. Saturday, March 1,2008, at: The Red Lion Motor Inn, 2525 N 20th Ave, Pasco WA.
