Ronald Eugene Stratton 65 passed away August 22, 2008 at home in Kennewick, surrounded by his family. He had fought a short courageous battle with cancer.
Ron was born in Chanute, Kansas on October 18, 1942 to Farrent and Grace Stratton, eight of nine children. The family moved to Richland in 1944 where his father worked at Hanford's Mahattan Project. Ron enjoyed music; he was in a band and was a great singer and guitarist.
Ron became a commercial fisherman in 1963. He loved doing his job for many years and had some great stories to tell. In his off time he worked for Safeway and helped his brother Lee at Prarie Market in Alaska. Ron's other loves were camping, sport fishing and was a Mariners fan.
Ron and Glenna met in 1984 in Bremerton and married in Richland, October 11, 1997. Ron cared for his mother for 14 years until her death in 2000. Ron was an apartment manager for 8 years in Richland.

To Glenna,Carl and all Ronnies family.I started first grade at old sackie with Ron. Truly Ron was a dear friend who would give you himself what ever and whenever you needed him. Ron was there. To be honest about it, I never knew a Stratton that ever met a stranger that they wouldn’t be there for. They truly are a good family. This will be a tremendous loss to all who knew Ron and his family. God Bless all of you,

It was so wonderful to see all the family at Uncle Ronnie’s memorial yesterday. Family memories were in abundance, and really kind of choked me up the rest of the evening. I think it is telling that my brothers and sister and I always refer to him as “Uncle Ronnie” and never just Ron. He was a dear friend to all of us growing up, and he just had the youngest heart. I never doubted for a moment that he wouldn’t do everything he could for me if I asked, and I always felt loved when I was with him. I’ll miss him, and can only hope that the reconnections made between our family yesterday will keep him alive for years to come. Love to his family, and thanks for a great day yesterday. I think he would’ve LOVED it.
My thoughts go out to our entire family, Uncle Ronnie will certainly be missed!
I have so many wonderful memories of him while growing up. He used to come stay over at our houseMel and Sue from time to time, and after much begging on the part of us kids, he would pull out his guitar and sing to all of us! We always enjoyed his compassion, positive energy, humor, stories and entertainment.
It was wonderful seeing everyone on Sunday, loved the pictures and stories! Thank you to everyone who was involved in hosting Ronnie’s celebration of life gathering.
Much love to everyone~
