Ruth S. Hart

Ruth Muriel Sandlin Hart, 89, of Richland, Washington, passed away September 17, 2008 in Richland, Washington. She was born October 18, 1918 in Henryetta, Oklahoma and was raised there, working on the family's chicken hatchery and dairy.

After coming to Richland she worked at the Hanford Project from 1947-1980. Mom and Dad raised registered Hereford cattle for several years. Ruth was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, where she was active almost to the time the Lord called her home.

Mom loved to play golf and do decorations for the church and for friends' weddings.

Survivors include her husband Harvey H. Hart; her son Walter C. Hart and wife Loretta; brother Linday Sandlin Dean; daughter-in-law Ida Hart; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her son Harvey A. Hart; brothers, John B. and Jarrette Sandlin; sister Mary Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Einan's Funeral Home, Richland, with graveside to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Saturday from 12:00-3:00 PM, also at the funeral home.

Special thanks to Beverly Dubree for her love and care through the years.

  • To Harvey and your wonderful family

You’re in my prayers. Your loss is truly great, for Ruth was a great woman. I pray that in the midst of your grief our Lord and Savior Jesus would comfort you and give you peace.

I also want to thank you for the joy of being her pastor. I recall with fondness her spiritual strength, her love for YOU, and her desire to be light whereby others would see Jesus.

In those last days, that’s what I noticed, Jesus shining through!

    Again, blessings!

    Pastor Steve

  • Harvey and Ruth were our neighbors on Albemarle Ct. for many years. Ruth was always so sweet and kind.

My father Peter King passed away about the same time that Harvey and Ruth had to leave their family home.

Our condolences to Harvey and family.

Marily King is now in Assisted Care at Guardian Angel since she now requires full-time care. She will be going to Riverton Retirement Center in late October and would appreciate a call from Harvey when she is situated. She misses his “is your cable off?” calls.
