  • Mitzie and Wakie were such a part of the Turner family for many years in Richland. They were such special people and we loved to visit with them each time we were in the Tri-Cities. They will always be in our memories and hearts.

  • My memories of Aunt Mitzie are very special. There are so many to share. I remember our trip to Mexico. She and Uncle Wakie joined my Mom, my brother, and a group of friends for the adventure. We traveled by train to Mexico City. It took 2 days to get to the city. We spent a couple weeks in Mexico and the surrounding areas, and then boarded the train for the two day return trip. We ate sandwiches and cookies that I brought along and we played Zonk! We not only enjoyed Mexico City but we also toured a few other cities. We climbed the pyramids and shopped the markets. We enjoyed the Mariachi’s and even went to some night clubs. I remember eating at one of the buffets. I was eating a bowl of delicious soup. Aunt Mitzie asked if I had tried the Octopus. I said absolutely not! She asked what I was eating and i told her the Sopa de Pulpe. My Mom and everyone laughed since I was on my second serving. Pulpe is Octopus and although I am fluent in Spanish, I did not connect the dots before finishing the second bowl. Aunt Mitzie always knew how to entertain us and keep us happy. Her smile and the twinkle in her eyes were contagious and will be with me forever. I will miss you, Aunt Mitzie and am sad you are gone but on the other hand, I rejoice in that you have moved on to be with Uncle Wakie, Bobby, and Jo. Know that you will always be loved. Cathy Margrethe Hawn’s daughter and Brian my son, Kristina my daughter, Adam my future son-in-law, Kaytia my grandaughter, and Robert ex-husband.

  • Some of the fondest memories I have of the time I spent living in Richland include the times I spent with Mitzie and Wakie. Living next door to them on El Monte Ct. was such a joy.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family that they loved so much and of which they were so proud.

  • Our mother, Ruth Meek, was Mitzie’s roommate at Quail Hollow for a time. Near the end of Mom’s life journey my sister and I spent 24 hours a day in Mom and Mitzie’s room. We became very attached to Mitzie with her sweet and loving manner. We knew she was a former golfer so we frequently referred to her golfing days while talking with her. She would reply with smiles and affirmations that warmed us every time. Our prayers are with her and her family, although we know she is now praying for all of us. Thank you, Mitzie, for making our time of trial sunnier.

    Affectionately,
