Terry Wayne Smith

Terry Wayne Smith passed away Wednesday January 7, 2009 in Kennewick, just 18 days from his forty-first birthday. He was born January 25, 1968 in Richland to Clifford Gene Smith and Doris Van Reenen Smith.

Terry graduated in the top 4% in the State of Washington and received a certificate from the Governor for his academic achievements. Throughout his life he had a great thirst for knowledge and read just about everything he could get his hands on.

Terry loved the outdoors and fishing and hunting with his brother, friends and family.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, he was a friend to everyone he met and always wanted to help others.

Terry was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Henry Lee Van Reenen and grandmother Virginia Van Reenen, and his paternal grandfather Clifford O. Smith and grandmother Ruth Lorene Shelby Smith.

Terry is survived by his father Gene Smith MaryAnn his mother Doris Van Reenen Dollarhide Frank and beloved brother who was always there for him Cliff Smith Lisette and his nephew Stephen Smith all of the Tri-Cities.

He leaves two uncles; Uncle Brent Van Reenen Susan and Tim Van Reenen Patty as well as step sisters Sharlene Diaz, Sharee McKay, Lori Scriven, Linette Mustain, Mary Reil, and Teri Nelson. He also leaves behind step brother Lance Nelson, five cousins; Gary, Ira, Aaron, Kevin and Mark Van Reenen and the many friends he made through his life.

He fought a valiant and long battle with severe Crohn's Disease from his late teens up to his passing.

A funeral service will be held at Einan's Funeral Home on Thursday January 15, 2009 at 10:00am.

  • To the family of Terry,I am sorry for your loss. I have known Terry for about 15 years. I worked at the Big Y Tavern for many years.I have met many people,Terry always willing to help.The owners of the Y also send there prayers.I had a good friendship with Terry he would stop by my house anytime.He knew he was alway welcome.We shared many dreams and I know he always had his family.I will miss his laughter and I will always remember Terry Love always Laurie Foster

  • I’m so very sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Terry very well but the few times we met he always made me feel at ease. Please don’t hestitate to call Theresa and I if you guys need anything. I know Dad and Mom feel sick about not being able to be here for you guys. We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers.
