Brian G. Belew
On August 21, 2009 Brian lost his battle with cancer. He was born February 6, 1957 to Glen & Gwen Belew in Everett, WA. The family moved to Richland in 1965 and he graduated from Hanford High School in 1975. Brian met Cindy Weinburg and they were married in 1980 for 18 years. Brian has two sons, Shan & Kellen. Shan is currently living in Richland, working as a Mechanical Engineer at PNNL. Kellen is living in Seattle working with his uncle as a skylight technician, musician, and Christian.
Brian had a career as a Quality Assurance Engineer and was forced into early retirement due to problems with chronic back pain. During his career he traveled to various locations around the US, eventually returning to Richland to raise his family.
Brian was an avid outdoorsman who loved boating, camping, fishing and hunting. Whidbey Island family salmon trips in the fall, and Tucannon fishing with friends in the spring were both an annual tradition for him. He had a passion for big campfires and Bud Light. His favorite times were up at elk camp with his beer drinking buddies or just being with his sons, who Brian was so proud of. Brian has many lifelong friends that he was always there for, never hesitating to lend a hand. He was an excellent listener who never gave unsolicited advice. Well, with the exception of his boys, of course. Holidays with family always included a poker table which brought about much laughter and numerous cherished memories.
Brian was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his two sons, his father Glen Belew and close friend Catherine Morris of Richland, his sister Lynn and husband John Schmidt of Mill Creek, his brother Steve Belew and wife Mel of Kirkland, sister Beth and husband Rick Richardson, and sister Jan and husband Kevin Lenkersdorfer, all of Kennewick, along with his best friend Mike Wingfield and wife Linda. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, along with many good friends at 200 South. Brian, we all love you so much. Your passing leaves a hole in our hearts that will never be healed.
A memorial service will be held at Memories at Sunset Event Center, located on the beautiful grounds of Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland, WA on Friday, August 28 at Four O'clock p.m.
Oh My, I see Brian has been gone almost a year now !
I wondered where life had taken him.
To his Family and Friends, I am truly saddened for your loss.
We were next door neighbors and “Good Bud’s” from about age 3 to 3rd grade.
I hope for only good memories to be what you recall on this upcoming year Anniversary.
Very Sincerely,
Kathy Hall Varney
Dear Bud and family,
I was saddened to hear of Brian’s passing. When my dad passed away, he called me to send his condolences, and tell me how much respect he had had for him. He and I cried on the phone together remembering my dad, and then Eric. I’m quite sure that Brian is in a better place now; probably sitting around a big camp fire like one that we had at Beard’s Hollow down on the coast many years ago. Love, Paula
From the childhood memories, the adulthood memories and all of the special times I have spent with the Belew family, Brian will always hold a special place in my heart. Christmas Eve’s will never be the same…..may you rest in peace dear friend. All my love, Leila
To Beth, Bud, and Family…all I can say, is, my thoughts are SO MUCH with you at this time. God Bless
Uncle Bob
We only knew Brian for a couple of years, but enough to know he was funny, kind and a great person to talk with. Our prayers and thoughts go out to the family. We will miss him.
My husband Bobby and I were sad to hear Brian passed away. He will stay forever young in our hearts.
