Carol “Pat” Horne

Pat Horne, age 81, loving wife, mother and grandmother went to be with her heavenly father and devoted husband and dance partner, Bob Horne on September 4, 2009. She was born Carol Patricia Norton to Charles and Marie on June 26, 1928 in Denver, Colorado. She met her husband of 62 years on a dance floor in Denver when she was just 16.

Her family moved to Richland, Washington where she graduated from Richland High School before her marriage to Bob on August 10, 1946.

Pat was a devoted mother to eleven children before teaching sewing classes at Columbia Basin College. Pat and Bob's mutual love of dance led to over three decades of dance instruction in the Tri Cities and nearly 70 Northwest dance conventions. Pat's immense passion for dance went beyond the dance floor and included charity benefits, volunteering and developing an extended family of students and colleagues. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

Pat is survived by her brother Jim Norton from Little Rock, Arkansas; eleven children, Pam, Joan, Patty, Kathy, Steve, Dave, John, Dan, Michelle, Mike and Shannon, thirty two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral mass service for Pat Horne will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, September 11th at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1320 West Henry Street, Pasco Washington to be followed by a reception.

A private burial for immediate family only will follow the reception.

The family greatly appreciates the loving care given by the Visiting Angels and the Hospice at the Chaplaincy.

  • To my wonderful mother who passed on to be with Dad and now three of her children.
I miss the phone calls with you and Dad. You were a remarkably strong woman. After
raising 11 children you and Dad used your talent to create your successful dance business.
I am grateful for having you as my mother.

  • I just found out about Pat. I used to take lessons from Bob and Pat from about 1986 to 1989. They were both truly the most special people anyone could ever hope to have known. Some of the best times in my life came about because of them. I don’t know of any two people who affected so many lives in a positive way. They both will always be in my heart.

  • Through Bob’s teaching, and Pat’s encouraging support, we learned some steps called “Bob’s Night Club two step” I now know the dance has other names, but we will always remember Pat and Bob for that dance.

They were a grand asset to our community and we miss them both.

  • Pat’s love of dance and her active life right up to the end were inspiring to us, the staff of The Entertainer. She virtually created our Dance Section with her articles and the monthly giveaway of a spot in her popular classes. We so enjoyed working with her, and will miss her. Our condolences go out to all of her large family, with whom we share the grief of her passing.
