Emily Alair Wentz, most beloved wife and mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away suddenly on September 20, 2009, she was 71 years old.

Alair was born in Toppenish, WA, on November 30, 1937 to Johnny and Emily Sutton. She married her true love and high-school sweetheart, Tony Wentz, in 1956.

Tony and Alair moved to Yakima in 1967, where she worked as a secretary andBookkeeper as well as making a wonderful home for her family. They retired to Richland in 2006.

It is impossible to describe the life of such a wonderful woman in a few short words. Alair was a bright and shining spirit, and she brought joy to everyone who knew her. She was bubbly and vivacious, with a quick smile and a tender heart. She fiercely loved her family and had many dear friends, maintaining close relationships over the years with several of her high school classmates. Her kindness and warmth were gifts she shared with everyone. She was the kind of person who could have a roomful of quiet strangers talking like old friends in a matter of minutes.

If one person can make a difference, that person was Alair. Through the lessons of love and relationships that she taught her children and lived by example, they have in-turn found and given love, and touched many lives around the world.

She will be profoundly missed, but never forgotten and loved eternally.

Alair is survived by her husband, Tony, their children, Nolan and Brenda Wentz, Brian and Julie Wentz, Denise and Don Plath, and Jan Wentz. 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, her brother Loy Sutton and his wife Nellie, and numerous nieces and nephews that she held very dear to her heart. Alair was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Robert Sutton, and Noreen and Mack Houston.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 2:00pm at Memories of Sunset Event Center located on the beautiful grounds of Sunset Memorial Gardens, 915 By-Pass Highway Highway 240 and Swift Richland, WA.
