Marlene Edna Dick
Marlene E. Dick, 75, of West Richland, WA, passed away on October 30, 2009. Marlene was born in Indian Head, Saskatchewan, Canada on March 14, 1934 to Albert and Margaret Willerth.
Always the adventurous spirit, after she acquired her degree as an R.N., she moved to Los Angeles, CA, then to Nome, AK, Anchorage, AK and then Mt. Edgecumbe, AK where she met and married Wilfred E. Dick.
She moved to Cass Lake, MN in 1971, where she raised her three children, and many would say, several other children in town and was the Director of Nursing at the Indian Health Service Hospital.
In 1990 she retired and moved with her daughter to the Tri-Cities area, where she finally made roots and called the area her home. She golfed and played bridge, but could not stay retired and eventually became a home health nurse for several years until she retired once more and settled into working at the golf course, where she was all summer with her friends anyway.
She loved playing bridge and golf and always liked to play games at her home with friends and family, but at the home the game usually included a glass or 2 of wine.
She was fun, friendly, generous, dependable, inspirational and kind and everyone who met her, remembered her. Her passions were nursing, oceans and mountains, dancing, fishing, beachcombing, painting and mostly, her children. She was adventurous and loved to travel and try new things, such as treating herself to hang-gliding lessons for a retirement gift. She lived life to the fullest and touched many lives and will be widely missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilfred E. Dick Sr, brother Gordon Willerth, brother-in-law Winfield Tilton, sister-in-law Pauline Willerth, and son-in-law Jon Roder.
She is survived by her brothers, Charlie Willerth, Don Willerth Connie, and Jerry Willerth Doreen, and sisters, Louise Willerth, Jean Wagner Walter and Joyce Tilton, son, Wilfred E. Dick, Jr Lisa, daughters Laura Curtis Darren and Linda Dick-Olson Tom and grandchildren Cara Stanfield Josh, M Dick, Marisa Olson, Rachel Olson and Raven Dick.
Please send donations to Hospice at The chaplaincy, 2108 W. Entiat Ave, Kennewick, WA 99336 in lieu of flowers.
Services will be at Einan's Funeral Home, 915 By-Pass Hwy, Richland, WA, in Memories at Sunset Event Center on Thursday, November 5th at 4:00 p.m., with viewing beginning at 3:00 p.m. A reception to celebrate Marlene's life follows the service. The family requests dress code be casual.
Marlene,
Your bridge buddies will miss you. I knew you for such a short time, but in that time, I new you were a very special angel.

Dear Family,
We will certainly miss your Mother and the challenging and wonderful memories of the days and nights at IHS in Cass Lake. God bless you all. Eileen Gothman and Ardis Norenberg
Laura and Darren,
Our hearts were saddened to learn of Marlene’s passing. She was one of the most engaging people we’ve ever met. At our get-togethers, she was the first person in the room we would seek out. Please accept our condolences and know if there is anything we can do you have but to ask.
Marlene, we will miss your quick wit and sense of humor. We will always cherish the memories of our laughter, games and dinners with you. You were one of a kind, and the only person we have ever seen wearing a plastic shopping bag as a hat!
Marlene,
There are many people who come and go in our lives. A few touch us in ways that change us forever, making us better from knowing them. You made a difference in my life and for this I am grateful. Thanks for being you. I will miss you terribly, but I have many beautiful, fun memories of the things we did together.
Marlene was an outstanding exemplary nurse and an inspiration for fellow home health nurses.
My sympathy to her family.
