ALMARIA FERN HYLAND MARY

November 19, 2009 Almaria Hyland peacefully passed on. She was born April 7, 1926 in Yakima WA to Arthur and Fern Wulff. Almaria's smile and outgoing personality touched many in her life. Volunteering with the Senior Companion program in the Grays Harbor area truly gave her a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment; she learned many valuable life skills while assisting in the SC program. Growing up during the Depression made a deep impact in her attitudes about life and helping others. She worked for many years as she raised her family at Kinney's restaurant in Kennewick WA. Grown up kid's will remember 'Mary' as a school cook at Mark Twain in Pasco before she started working at the information booth at Pasco Payless Drug store. She then transferred to the Yakima store when changes in her life prompted a move out of Pasco. After moving to Ocean Shores in 1987, she worked in the Community Club House. Always the smiling greeter with the silver hair she looked forward to the friendly visitors.
Staying active and surrounding herself with people was very rewarding so employment for Almaria continued clear into her late 70's where she worked at the breakfast bar at a local Ocean Shores motel. She loved meeting new people and always had a story to share. She set a wonderful example of a loving, hardworking, strong minded mother and grandmother. Family was her most prized possession, Mother will be deeply missed.
Almaria is survived by her children, Rusanne Hyland, Nancy Burgess and Warren Hyland, Paul Burgess and granddaughters, Tracey and Trisha Burgess, her brother Raymond Wulff and many beloved nieces and nephews. Almaria leaves behind many dear friends and caregivers; they along with her family will keep her in their hearts and memories forever. Almaria was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Fern Wulff, sisters Raemona Wulff, Elda Jain, and Betty Jane Holl. The family wishes to sincerely thank the many special caregivers at Callaway Gardens and Tri-City Chaplaincy Hospice for the wonderful tender care and sense of extended family they lovingly shared. A memorial service celebrating Almaria's life will be held Friday December 11, 2009, 2:00 - 4:00pm at Pasco First Christian Church, 1524 W. Marie, Pasco WA. In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorial contributions to be made to; Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice, 2108 W. Entiat, Kennewick, WA 99336, or, Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011
