John J. Flaherty, Jr.
John J. Flaherty, Jr., 64, of Richland, passed away on November 30, 2009. He was born on July 11, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA where he grew up. John completed his AA from Indiana University and served in the Army.
John and his wife Sandra married on December 9, a marriage of 37years, decided to call the Tri-Cities their home for 28 years. He was a retired Electrical Engineer for The Washington Group.
John was very fond of traveling in his motor home cross country and he loved to tease. He was a member of the Parish of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, NRA, and the TCSA Tri-City Shooting Assoc..
He is survived by his wife Sandra Flaherty of Richland; daughter, Tricia Flaherty-Besel Travis of Richland and grandchildren, Jessica and Dustin. John is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Tonetti of Pittsburgh, PA, Delores Bell of Pittsburgh, PA and his best friend and Army buddy, Ivan Barlow of Martensville, VA.
Visitation will be held at Einans Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a Vigil at 6:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Parish of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Kennewick on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 11:00am followed by a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland.
John was a caring neighbor, had a warm smile and a wonderful sense of humor, he will be greatly missed.
