Jeanne Reid, a Richland resident since 1948, passed away on January 8, 2010. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Donald and her sister, Bonnie.

Jeanne was born to E.G. and Ruth Curry on September 28th, 1916 in Cedar Rapids, IA. She attended Coe College where she was affiliated with the Chi Omega sorority and active in the Pan-Hellenic organization. After graduation Jeanne worked in the Coe College Alumni Office.

In 1940, Jeanne married Donald, the love of her life. In Richland, Don played a vital research role in the development of nuclear energy technology. Jeanne was employed for her first two years setting up the offices in two new Richland elementary schools. She also helped to establish the Tri-City Pan-Hellenic, assisting the alumni from around the country to form their respective sorority affiliations.

Jeanne enjoyed sewing, playing bridge, traveling, ballroom dancing and golf. She was devoted to the children of her friends and neighbors and has cherished their friendship through the years.

Jeanne graduated from the Ladies Bible Study Fellowship and continued to be involved with many friends in the Fellowship. She was also active with the AAUW, the College Club, Tri-City Country Club and the Central United Protestant Church.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Central United Protestant Church.
