John Francis "Frank" Gorman

On January 5, 2010 Frank Gorman went to meet his Savior. Born to Inez & Raymond Gorman on March 25, 1934; Frank was raised in Spokane and attended Gonzaga Prep playing on their football team. Following High School he went on to Gonzaga University graduating as an Electrical Engineer.

Frank served his country as a firefighter in the Naval Air Division while stationed at Corpus Christi, Texas. Thus began a lifelong interest in aviation. Upon leaving the service he worked for Boeing in Seattle. He seized the opportunity to further use his engineering skills when he accepted a position in Richland, working for GE at the N Reactor and later for many years at Energy Northwest. As a certified electrical instrumentation engineer he was a lifelong member of the IEEE Association and of course a Gonzaga Alumni alumnus?.

Frank was totally committed to his loving wife Evie & most proud of his daughter Kathleen. His non-professional interests centered on family & his girls have many fond memories of times spent at the family cabin on Loon Lake where they enjoyed barbecues & kayaking. There were also many wine tasting excursions; a certain favorite of his were the Oregon Coast trips which almost always included a stop at the Tillamook Air Museum, where he could browse for hours. As recently as this past summer Frank had ventured out on his bicycle, frequently accompanied by his daughter. As his health declined along with his mobility he enjoyed the company of a family member named "Woody" his favorite dachound. No doubt his numerous friends will miss him at the Big Gulp nights.

As a member of Christ the King parish Frank could always be counted upon to attend the annual Sausage Fest. His daughter and son in law were amazed that he seemed to know everyone in town and all warmly welcomed him. While he leaves an empty spot at the table it is comforting to know that he will have that same easy and gracious welcome for us when we follow him home.

Wife Evie, daughter Kathleen & son in law Ryan survive Frank. He was preceded in death by parents Inez and Raymond, sister Mary Lou and an infant brother.

Visitation for Frank will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Einan's Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a Rosary at 6:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church in Richland, WA on Friday, January 8, 2010 at 11:00am.

A graveside service will be held at the Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane, WA on Saturday, January 9, 2010 with visitation prior at the Sunset Memorial Chapel starting at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Gonzaga Prep.

  • I have known Frank for a long time and was saddened to read about his passing. We would often run into each other at Fred Meyers and stand and shoot the breeze, and give each other a bad time. I loved Frank’s sense of humor and will miss him. May the Lord give you comfort.

  • Dearest Evie

I am deeply distressed at the passing of your beloved Frank. He was a good soul at a time when we are in dire need of good people. Words are inadequate at a time like this. I know your loss and I know what you must be feeling for I have walked this same path for over 8 years. You were there for me in 2001 and if you ever need a friend to talk to, I’m not far away! 946-5661.

  • Evie & Family –

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of sorrow. I first met Frank in 1986 at work, and was blessed to have him and Evie as a friend for the past 24 years. Frank was always so up-beat and told some of the best, okay corniest, jokes. : Frank was very dear to me and will be missed by many!
