Valerie Anne Nearing

Valerie A Barrows Nearing, 59, Loving wife, mother, sister, auntie, and Grammy, left our lives but not our hearts on May 2, 2010 at her home in Richland.

Valerie was born April 29th 1951 to Larry and Doris Rau Barrows in Bremerton, Wa. The Family Moved to Kennewick where she was raised and attended school. She was a Graduate of Kennewick High School in 1969. By 1972 she was the proud and loving mother of two. She worked for Pacific First Federal for many years before becoming an executive secretary at the Hanford Site. It was there that she met the love of her life Roy Nearing in 1992. The "LoveBugs" were married in 1995, and it was then that she became the mother of four. She was an avid reader, loved to cook and will be remembered for her Fried Chicken Legs and Chicken Noodle Soup. She was always giving to others whether it was through listening, a shoulder to cry on, or the charity of her choice. She was any extended mom and grandma to many of her children and grandchildren's friends. She looked forward to holiday gatherings, BBQ's and getaways with her "lovebug" to Packwood. She was confirmed into the Catholic Church in March of 1991. Valerie will be missed by many but will forever remain in there hearts.

There will be a gathering afterwards at Roy and Valerie's home in Richland for anyone who would like to come by.
"Grammy and Shyanne two peas in a pod forever and always."

"God looked around his garden And saw any empty space. He then looked down from Heaven And saw her tired face. He put his arms around her And put her in his care To make up for all she suffered He wanted her up there. It broke our hearts to see her go, But she didn't go alone, For part of us went with her The Day God called Valerie Home."

  • Roy,

I was very sorry to hear of Valerie’s passing. She was such a special person here on earth, that I know she is getting extra special treatment in heaven.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
