Kenneth R. Skinner Kenneth Ray Skinner was born January 26, 1922 in Quitman Mississippi and died June 10, 2010 at Kadlec Hospital in Richland, WA. He is the third of seven children born to Carla Dorman-Skinner and Irvin Monroe Skinner. His family later moved to Houghton, Louisiana where he graduated from high school. Kenneth was a World War II veteran who joined the Navy in 1942 and was stationed at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. He was an aviation radioman second class and a crewmember in the PBY Seaplanes that patrolled the Aleution Islands of Alaska. He served three tours in Alaska and was awarded the Naval Air Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He met his wife Beatrice Thelander in Bellingham, WA in 1942. They were married on November 1, 1944, and have one son, Steve. They were married for 66 years. He worked for Puget Sound Energy formally Puget Power for 28 years. He retired in 1981. Kenneth and his wife Bea moved to the Tri Cities in 2006 to be closer to their son and his wife, Becky. He was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Bellingham, WA and Richland Lutheran Church in Richland, WA. He has been an avid amateur radioman for over 52 years and belonged to the Tri City Amateur Radio Club. His call sign is K7INM. He loved working on and building computers. He was preceded in death by his father, Irvin, mother Carla, brother, Sam, sister Mildred, and brother, Billy. Kenneth is survived by his brother Roger Jeri, sisters Ellinor Gibson and Irma Reed; wife, Bea of West Richland, WA; son, Steve Becky of West Richland WA; grandchildren, Chad Skinner Susan of Milford, OH and Jenn Skinner of West Richland, WA and great grandchildren, Carson and Elliott Skinner of Milford, OH and Abigail Skinner of West Richland, WA. A graveside service will be held at Green Acres Cemetery, in Ferndale, WA on June, 18th 2010, at 3:00pm. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers donations be made to Central Lutheran Church, 925 North Forest Street, Bellingham, WA 98225.
