Lena K. Robertson
08/30/1938 — 07/13/2010
From Richland, WA, US | Born in Hoolehua, Molokai, Hawaii
Lena K. Robertson
Lena K. Davis Robertson was born at home in the little town of Hoolehua, Molokai, Hawaii on August 30, 1938. She was the sixth of seven children born to William H.K.Davis and Lillian Ochi Siu. Lena's siblings include Heinie, Buck, Cora Lou, William Luckie, Kiliona, and Lillian, all of whom preceded her in death. Lena attended elementary school on Molokai, and then attended intermediate and high school at Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu. From 1956 to 1959 she attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, achieving her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher in just three years by attending classes year around. In between her freshman and sophomore years she participated in the 1957 Miss Hawaii pageant as the reigning Miss Molokai, excelling in hula dancing. During her junior year she met David Robertson at BYU during a Hawaiian club tobogganing party behind Mt.Timpanogas. After a lengthy courtship they married in December 1958, and Lena put David through his final two years at BYU by teaching elementary school in Benjamin, Utah. In 1961 Lena and David moved to Richland, Washington where Lena taught elementary school at Lewis & Clark and Spalding schools and David worked for GE and later Battelle Northwest Laboratories.
In Richland they were blessed with six children: Steven Nancy, StuartJennifer, BruceTiffany, BoydMichelle, NealBecky and LaurieDaniel, and 19 beautiful grandchildren. Lena's pride and joy are her children and grandchildren, and her value of education was carefully instilled in all of them. She is an incredible wife, mother, and grandmother.
Lena dedicated much of her time and talents to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many ward and stake leadership and teaching positions including the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society. Lena particularly loved serving the primary children and the young women, where she put her teaching knowledge and skills and her testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ to good use. Lena has been a temple ordinance worker and office worker in the Columbia River Washington Temple since its dedication in 2001. She received great joy in serving in the House of the Lord. In 2005-2006 she and David served as senior couple missionaries in Hong Kong, China serving in the Victoria II Branch. There she became a surrogate mother to about 250 Filipino and Indonesian young women members of the church who were working as domestic helpers in Hong Kong. Lena will be remembered for her love of the Savior and His gospel. She will be remembered for her kind, happy, caring, sharing, loving personality and for her beautiful smile and sparkling eyes. Her life was a mission in service and a desire to bless the lives of those around her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Thayer Stake Center, Richland. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Friday the 16th at Einan's Funeral Home.

Sister Robertson was one of my favorite people in the ward growing up. I remember she was my mom’s visiting teacher and friend for a very long time and was always there to help. I am terribly sorry for your family’s loss, she will be terribly missed. May the Lord bless.
Dear Brother Robertson, I was saddened to hear the news of the passing of your dear wife. Sister Robertson was always so kind and loving to my family. She stood out in my mind as one of those who truly cared about you. She had a smile that radiated the Love of the Savior and always a kind word to say. We will truly miss her. May the Lord Bless your sweet Family at this time of sorrow, The Spirit pull you close together now and remember the Blessing she was to so many. Love the Tony and Ann Schraedel Family.

Dear Robertsons, my grandchildren live across the street from you – Jacob, Riley and Mitchell and they have so went on and on about Lena bringing them treats and how yummy her food was and how much they loved Lena. She was so kind and thoughtful to my grandchildren and I am so saddened to know she won’t be there anymore. It’s hard to believe she has left us. What a great loss for the family and I am so sorry. Dear Bishop Robertson and family, our hearts go out to you at this time of separation from your mother and grandmother. What a lovely, loving woman she was – a beautiful example to us all from the inside out. Choice blessings surely await her. Our thoughts and prayers for your comfort are with you at this tender time. We love you.
Whenever Lena and I chatted I think we both walked away trying to figure out what each other was talking about. But I knew that I enjoyed talking with her and seeing her. No doubt, she is in heaven with her hand on someone’s arm bending her/his ear. Thanks for the smiles, Lena.
Our memories of Dave and Lena’s family are many and sweet. Thank you for sharing your special gifts and talents and inspiration with so many of us, and for letting us share thoughts of love of caring. Lena has touched the lives of so many. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Larry and Sally Anderson
I graduated with Boyd at RHS and remember Mrs. Robertson very fondly. She was at every single basketball game cheering on the Bombers and her son. She never had a hair out of place and always looked immaculate. She loved her children so much. Her support and devotion to her family was obvious and quite admirable. I send my condolences to Boyd and the rest of the Robertson family. Your mother was a beautiful woman and I know she will be greatly missed. Peace be with all of you.
We are saddened by the loss of your spouse, mother, and grandmother. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this tough time. God bless you all.
Dear Dave – Our hearts were so saddened to read of Lena’s passing. We have missed her bright smile and tender visits at the temple. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers–We love you both and we will miss her! May you all be strengthened by our love and God’s love.
Dear Bro Robertson and family,
We have enjoyed the short time we were able to serve with Lena in the Temple. She was a wonderful and delightful. She was a great example to us of service. We could feel her love for others and for the Lord as she served in the Temple. We will miss her very much.
Dear Bishop Robertson and family,
I’ve always cherished my interaction with your family. I still tell people about “babysitting” the boys when Lena would go on business trips with Dave. It was always such a big relief when Dave and Lena got home and all the boys were still alive. I was just a little brat in the old 3rd ward, but Lena always made me feel special with her upbeat attitude. She was the “ward mom” while I was in high school and when I left for my mission. Thanks for your positive influence.
To the Robertson family,
I will always remember Mrs. Robertson as a kind beautiful woman. Laurie was a classmate and friend of mine from kindergarden on and we cheered together in high school. Mrs. Robertson always took my breathe away, in my eyes she was the perfect example of a woman with class. I’ll always remember her soft sweet voice and the value of education she instilled in Laurie. We all worked a little bit harder just to be like her. I am so sorry for your loss. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
To the Robertson Family,
Lena was a spark in everyone’s life. She cared for everyone she met or who needed assistance. Her cheerful enthusiasm will be missed.

“To be in her presence is to be warmed by a fire . . . and to see more clearly because the light is better.”
Lena is a most special person; her smile lights her face up with joy and delight, her caring is genuine, her love for others great and deep. I am so grateful to have seen her recently. To have known her, to have had the pleasure of seeing her radiant smile, to have felt her kindness and concern, has made my lonely walk through life a little easier to bear. I send my deepest condolences to all her family; I am truly sorry. Everyone who knew her will miss her, but our loss is Heaven’s gain.
God bless you all!
