Robert David Kidder
After a long battle with Lymphoma, Robert passed on July 11, 2010 into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Robert was born in Tacoma WA on March 25, 1946 to Robert and Julia Kidder and grew up in Roseburg Oregon. Robert attended Roseburg High, Umpqua Community College and Oregon Technology Institute, graduating with honors. Robert had an active childhood, was a paperboy, and a Boy Scout and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the local Gun Club and enjoyed black powder shooting.
Robert was fascinated with engineering and science and his sisters said the house was much warmer when he converted the family furnace into his private foundry. We are not sure the parents knew the furnace served a dual purpose, but Robert had fun and learned a lot about metallurgy.
Robert started work at the Hanford Project in 1967 and was very excited with the technical opportunities. Robert was proud and grateful to receive a Rotary Scholarship and study Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa for a year. After his studies were completed, he traveled around Africa for a year with a preacher presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ. Robert became a Christian in College and loved to study the Bible, memorize scripture and talk to others about the good news of eternal salvation. All his friends and family will miss him and look forward to seeing him again in Heaven.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Julia Kidder of Roseburg, Oregon, and is survived by his sister Phyllis Kidder Weigel Roger, sister Nancy Kidder West Larry, nephew Bryce Weigel Megan, and niece Kasia Weigel. Donations can be sent in his name to World Vision International and Central United Protestant Church Mission Fund. A service will be held at Central United Protestant Church on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 3:00 PM with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
I was deeply saddened to hear of Robert’s passing….we met many years ago at a seminar. I remember him as being interested in many different ideas especially concerning nutrtion. My prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
Robert faithfully attended men’s Thursday morning breakfast, which I do, came at least once to prime timer’s singles, which I attend, & participated in Monday evening international bible study. He came up with many innovations, including some that could dramatically increase mpg on many vehicles. He researched diet & nutrition & looked for codes that woulkd make them more effective. He advocated the diet, probably strictly vegetarian, that Daniel & his followers followed, tho some meat, including fat, was needed in his own case &, thus, added. His faith was paramount. I greatly miss him. I miss you, Robert. My sincere sympathy to all his relatives & friends.
Sorry to hear about Robert. He was my friend. Ernie
Dear Nancy,
I was sorry to see Rob’s obituary in the news review yesterday. It’s beautifully written and I learned alot about Rob’s past. I only saw him a few times a year, when he visited here. He was always friendly to me and thanked me for feeding the cats, which I love to do, in memory of your dad and now, Rob. He was amazed that Grey Momma and Blackie are still here, after all these years.
My condolences to you, your sister and all your family; as you grieve your loss.
Many blessings,
Kim Wilbur

Robert and I dated for a while when I was a young woman and we both attended the same church. I was saddened to hear of his passing. Sail on, Robert, sail on.
Robert was in my BSF group at CUP church and demonstrated in depth bible knowledge and spiritual understanding. He added much to our discussions. His empty chair will remind us of his tremendous faith and love for our Lord.
Dear Phyllis and Nancy,
I was so sorry to hear about Rob’s passing this morning from my sister, Marsha. Most of my memories of Rob go back to our high school days in the 60’s when I would spend time at your house. He was a really nice guy. I especially remember him as having a good sense of humor and a ready smile. My most sincere condolences to you and your families.
Nancy, and family sorry to hear of the loss of your brother. I did not know your brother, but I do know having Nancy as a sister had to be special for him.
Thinking of you at this time.
