Michael J. Olson
Age 60 of West Richland, a loving Husband, Father and Uncle, passed away on Oct. 29, 2010 of heart failure. Mike was born in Yakima, WA on January 9, 1950 to Joe and Phyllis Olson. He was raised in Yakima and attended Eisenhower H.S. then in 1973 graduated from W.S.U.
He married Cindy Herberg in 1973 and they started a family in 1976 with their first son Rocky followed by their second son Derek in 1980. They were his pride and joy and enjoyed their childhood growing up in Othello, WA.
Mike managed Cenex Full Circle Store in Othello for many years until 1995. He then started his own farm store Olson's Farm & Home in Benton City, WA. In 2004 he went to work for Bleyhl Farm Service.
Mike enjoyed driving his Model A pickup that he restored, and loved spending his time off from work up at Rim Rock Lake. He had a great sense of humor and was a very kind, caring and loving man. Mike was trained well by his dogs Belle and JoJo and was very obedient.
Mike is survived by his wife Cindy; sons, Rocky Kristia and Derek; his brother, Tim Chris; sister-in-law, Ingrid Youngberg Ken; nephews, Matt Herberg Jennie, Jacob Youngberg, Josh Olson and great nephews Devin and Dylan.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 1:00pm at First Church of the Nazarene, 2500 Jericho Rd., Richland, WA 99354.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Tri-Cites Union Gospel Mission or the Salvation Army.
I will miss Mike’s smiling face at Bleyhl. Our prayers are with your family.
We are saddened and shocked to learn you’ve lost Mike. We remember that twinkle in his eyes and his youthful laugh. Hope your memories are helping to carry you through this terrible loss. Sincerely, Marty and Judy
All things in life change, sometimes slowly and sometimes quickly. We do not notice the gradual changes, but the sudden change comes like a great shock. We are frequently stunned or filled with grief. Death comes suddenly; but, like birth, death is an open door to a new and greater life.
Dear Cindy, Rocky and Derek,
I am really sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is on you and I wish I could be there with you to give you my hugs and love.
Just know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers…
Sincerely,
Dearest Cousins
Our thoughts, prayers and hearts are with you.
Blessings and Hugs

We were privileged to know Mike when he had the store in Benton City. He was always smiling, pleasant, helpful, and great to do business with. We were sorry when he left town, and we’re sad to learn of his passing.

Olsen family,
Sorry to hear about Mike. The short time that we knew Mike in Othello we considered him a good
and friendly man. He was always
respectful and pleasant to be around
with. My kids Rudy,Melissa, and
David really liked him. I hope
that everybody is doing well even
in this hard time with your great loss. Please accept our condolences
and if theres anything we can do,
please don’t hesitate to ask.
Certainly sad to learn we have lost Mike. We share great memories of him, and Dave Jenkins, in the years when we were crazy jeep buddies at WSU. Sincere sympathy to his family and friends.
Mike was a good brother-in-law and friend.Anyone that new Mike will greatly miss him and think of him often.. Ken Youngberg
I first met Mike while buying irrigation repair parts at Olson’s Farm and Home. He was such a nice helpful humble person. When the Farm and Home shut down we had to go elsewhere to buy parts. I was surprised to walk into the Pasco Bleyhls and see him there. Same great person. I and the rest of the staff at Hedges Winery and Vineyard will miss him. Let us know if we can be of any help.
Dear Olson Family,
So sorry to hear about your loss. We have good memories of his days at Cenex in Othello, but especially your support when I had Rocky as a student-very special days. Dave and Ann

Marilyn Feis and Mike
Mike and I were best friends at Wilson Junior High and Eisenhower High in Yakima. We lost track of each other as we settled in our lives of work on the west and east coasts, marrying our special others and raising wonderful families. We shared our 10-year reunion in 1978 as though we’d never been apart … and I got to know Cindy better than we knew each other in high school.
Mike – I will never forget you, your smile/jokes/continual charm, your jalopy hauling us off to another round of golf, your constant lunches of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and oreo cookies, your Dad and Mom – Joe and Phyllis and Brother Tim, our water skiing and fishing trips, and football/basketball/baseball games and practices.
You made our world a better place.
My thoughts are with your family. You were a great man Mike.
Cindi,Our deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family. We are thinking of you and pray that time will heal. Sincerly, Terry and Val Thompson
Dearest Cindy, I am so saddened to learn the news of Mike’s sudden passing, Marlene just told me. I know you are a strong person. Love and prayers are sent to all of you. Linda Sampson
