Boyd Eugene Jakes of Richland, WA for the last 20 years passed away on Monday, November 22 at Kennewick General Hospital surrounded by his family. Boyd turned 84 on November 14.

Boyd was the second son of George John Jakes and Donna Marguerite Russell born in Sioux County, North Dakota in 1926. He lived there until the family moved to Kalispell, Montana in 1930’s. Moved to Portland, Oregon in 1939 and lived there until he joined the Navy in 1943. He served in Pacific Theater during WWll. After leaving the service, he married Joyce L. Parker on November 6, 1948 in Portland, OR. They lived throughout the Pacific NW until settling in Portland to work in the construction business for A.C. Schommer and Sons for 30 years until he retired. After retirement he returned to live in Richland, WA.

Boyd was a member of the NW United Protestant Church and served on the maintenance committee. Boyd is survived by his wife, Joyce P. Jakes, and his daughters, Robert and Teresa Shaw of Sandy, OR, Michael and Bly Baldwin of Oroville, CA and Stephen and Patricia Spencer of Richland, WA, An older brother George of Clackamas, OR, a younger brother Wesley of Lewiston, ID, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Northwest United Protestant Church, 1312 Sacramento, Richland, WA on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 2:30p.m.
