Betty Lou Cramer Barnard, 84, passed away January 14, 2011, in Richland, WA. She was born May 29, 1926, in Yakima, WA, to Emmett and Retta Thomas Cramer.
Below is the no frills version of her life. We were sternly reminded many times to keep it short.
Betty married Robert G. Barnard on June 1, 1946, in Yakima, WA. Bob passed away December 30, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents and all 9 siblings.
She is survived by her son, Bob Barnard, daughters, Sue and Carol Barnard, and her grandkids, Aeren, Adam, and Amie Huckleberry, and numerous other family and friends.
Betty was a devoted, long-time member of the Richland Baptist Church and loved her Lord, family, and friends. She always enjoyed family gatherings, especially the dinners, and social activities with her friends.
Sincere thanks from her family goes to David and Kim Johnson for the tremendous help they have been to our Mom over the years.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was a grand Lady, my Aunt Betty.
Betty was one of my first Sunday School teachers at RBC and little did I know then her daughter, Sue, would become my best friend and horse riding partner. Another bonus was our tag-along little sister, Dink. My fondest memories were going to Betty’s house for all the super dinners she prepared for Sunday after church. My heart goes out to her family that she’s traveled away from…but remember her spirit will forever be in our hearts. Love you, Betty Lou
Yes,I can just hear her say “keep it short”. But, she was such a pleasant lady to know and sit next to at “meals” time at the Community Center. Betty was also a volunteer “at the ready” on the Gift Shop desk. I remember our first exchange of days gone past; she so proudly explained how and why she took lessons and became a licensed pilot.
My condolences for the loss of your mother.
We were so sorry to hear of Betty’s passing, but rejoice that she is now in heaven. Betty was a very special lady and a wonderful Christian example. I loved going by and visiting with Betty when Bob used to cut wood for me. We had many wonderful talks. She will be missed! We are praying that God will give you comfort and peace.
My condolences on your loss. Betty was a very special lady to my family and we grieve along with you. I spent lots of time at the Barnard’s house as a kid not only because my parents and Bob & Betty were very good friends but also because I loved being with Betty. She was an incredible Christian woman and a role model to so many. Take comfort in knowing she’s rejoicing in Heaven for all eternity.
Betty was a beautiful lady inside and out. It was very obvious that she loved Jesus with all her heart, and she loved His people. She always served with a smile. She will be greatly missed by many. My thoughts and prayers will be with her family and friends as they grieve her death. I look forward to seeing Ms. Betty in Heaven one day.
It was about 20 years ago when Betty came into my life; actually it was when this wonderful woman came into my mothers life. It was during mum’s very first service at RBC that she met this lovely lady Betty Barnard. They shared their love of Jesus, worship, and singing. Betty instantly took Lynn under her wing, and saw to it that she was included in all the senior activities at RBC. They became good friends and enjoyed each others company and corresponded regularly the old fashioned way writing letters! Bettys positive, upbeat, loving, devoted, and caring ways were invaluable to Lynn as she struggled with some personal issues. I will be forever grateful to Betty she was truly a good soul! My sincerest sympathies to her family, I just know how much you will miss your wonderful parent & grandparent our world will miss her too!
