Mary Alice Clark Swanson MAC was born in Anaconda, Montana on September 30, 1918, to Mary Catherine Cunningham Clark and Albert B. Clark. She was the 4th child in a close-knit family of 11 children. All of her brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She died June 28, 2011.

MAC married Lester G. Swanson October 15, 1938. They were married for 55 years before his death in 1993.

They moved to the construction camp at Hanford in 1944 then moved into Richland when housing was ready. She lived in Richland until 2005 when she moved to an adult family home in Kennewick.

She has three children: Leslie Swanson Holeman Ron, Richard Swanson Sharon, Darlene Swanson Merrill Dave, eight grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Family and friends were very important to her and she treasured any opportunity to be with them.

Mary Alice and Lester loved to dance especially to tunes like "Mack the Knife", "12th Street Rag" and a special favorite "When the Saints go Marching In". MAC also loved to clean; with a friend she cleaned homes in Richland for many years. A favorite hobby was knitting and as long as she was able she made blankets which she donated to women who were leaving abusive relationships.
