Ernest Edward Hoover
01/08/1925 — 07/15/2011
From Burbank, WA, US | Born in Hasting, NE
Ernest Edward Hoover
Ernest was born January 8, 1924 in Hastings NE and passed on July 15, 2011 in Richland W A where he was a resident for a few short months.
He was one of 9 children if the count is correct. He entered the Navy in 1943 at the age of 17 where he was a baker on ship. He continued his baking talents with his family making wonderful pies and other goodies to our delight.
Attending a carnival in NE he met Mildred Torske, his wife of 64 years along with her twin sister Marie. He asked them 'which one of you girls would like to go out with me', our mom spoke up to tell him she would, end of story. They had 6 children, 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Our father loved to travel the western United States, he was an artist, was in construction most of his life, he was given a beautiful singing voice and was extremely talented, painting, wood working, restoring furniture and gorgeous landscaping just to name a few. He was also quite good in a water fight, a wonderful memory for all of us.
He is preceded in death by his parents Seth Hoover and Charlotte Upchurch, 7 of his siblings, wife Mildred and his eldest son Jack. He is survived by his remaining children, grandchildren and his youngest brother. He will be remembered with great love and respect and will remain in our hearts forever.
Rest in sweet peace dad ... your loving family.
I love and miss you grandpa, thinking of you on this memorial day and think of you and grandma often.
I love and miss you dad. Will see you again someday.
I love and miss you Dad as in every family there were good times and bad times but I prefer to remember the good and let go of the bad. You were a great provider for your Family and we miss and love you
Dad my days are lonely with you gone, I miss seeing you, visiting you, even though there were times you didn’t know I was there or you covered your head with your blankets to shut out the world around you. You were brave to the end dad and I thank you for the priviledge of being in your presence when you left this world. I love dad and will always carry you in my heart!
Love and miss you Dad.
Dad first of all I love and miss you very much. There is so much of you not only in my heart but here in our home. We shared some good times and some not so good but thru it all I loved you and knew that you loved us all.I remember the time when you lived here with us and you walked up to me and opened your hands to show me a tiny little frog and you had the biggest smile on your face. I will forever remember that day and how your smile warmed my heart.Sometimes I can still smell and taste your pie crust that admittedly I would always try to wolf down before Wayne got home but that’s our secret Dad..I won’t tell if you won’t. There are alot of memories Dad and I’m sure we each have our own special ones and to many to tell but just know you are loved and missed very much and will always be our Dad
Appreciate the wonderful obituary.
Love, Joan & Ellis
We will always remember our visits when we all lived in Washington. Especially, the rides in your motorhome, when he would ask me if I saw anything coming. Of course I never gave him the right answer We always teased each other. The last time we saw your mom and dad was in Nebraska where your dad gave me a rock to take home to remember our trip. Love, Nona & Howard
