Tyler Grant Pulsipher

After a long courageous battle with brain cancer, Tyler Grant Pulsipher passed on to the Spirit world on July 28, 2011. Tyler was born in Oak Ridge, TN on November 4, 1981 and moved to West Richland, WA in October of 1983. He was intellectually gifted, participating in national science bowl competitions and achieving academic honors. After graduating from Hanford High School, he attended Brigham Young University. He served a 2 year LDS mission in Cambodia where he helped many come unto Christ. He developed a great love for the Savior, his leaders, companions, and the people he taught. He then returned to BYU and completed a BS degree in business management. He worked at Wencor as a buyer of aircraft parts before being diagnosed in Oct 2007. Desiring to be of greater service to people as he battled cancer, he served in volunteer positions and completed the course work for a Public Health Masters degree from Walden University.

Tyler has been an inspiration to many through his faith, positive attitude, and endurance. He adhered to the motto of "live like you're living, not like you're dying". Tyler had many passions including hosting parties, St. Patrick day, BYU sports, and Red Sox baseball. He had an abiding testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and a sure knowledge of life after death.

He was welcomed into the Spirit world by his Grandfather Grant Bushman, his Uncle Craig, and cousin Justin. He is temporarily separated from his parents, Brent and Janet Pulsipher, his siblings Trenton Angela, Tallie Justin, Kenton, and Kaleb. He loved his nephew Grant and nieces Olivia, Brynlee, and Twila.

A viewing will be held from 6:30-8:30pm on Wednesday Aug. 3rd at Einan's Funeral home in Richland, WA. The funeral will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Stake Center on 1720 Thayer Drive in Richland, WA, Thursday Aug. 4th at 1:00pm. • Dear Brent and Janet, I am so sorry to hear of the death of your son. I met you both in Boulder, CO where I was a student and less active member at the institute across from CU campus. Brent was a leader on a river trip down the Yampa in 1974. I also met you both in WA State after 2002, while I lived in Kennewick. I went to the temple in 1992 and maintain a current recommend since.. Thank you for your examples in my life.

  • Pulsipher Family we are so saddened to hear about the passing of Tyler. We know he has moved on to a better place but it is never easy having to say goodby. Tyler was a wonderful example of courage and faith. We love your family and you are in our thoughts and prayers. We pray for a spirit of comfort and strength to be upon you. We are also sorry we will not be able to attend Tyler’s service as we will be out of town attending our daughters wedding. It was a priviledge to have known and associated with Tyler.

  • I hadn’t seen Tyler for almost 8 years when I found out that he had only months to live. A short time later he came and visited me and other high school buddies in Seattle.

I remember how surprised I was that he wasn’t depressed with his short time left. He was just happy to be visiting friends. You would have never guessed that he was supposed to have mere months remaining. That was three years ago. To me, Tyler will always be someone who beat the odds!

Tyler, I am happy that we got back in touch. Thanks for trusting me enough to ask questions about your medicine. I promise to do my best to “Live like I am living.” I look forward to getting back in touch in the next life.

  • Tyler was a true inspiration during my sister`s battle with GBM. We all looked forward to his posts on Cancer Compass because of his incredible inner strength and courage. He emailed me recently and talked about stopping treatment and even then showed strength of character. It`s rare that someone affects so many :

  • Dear Brent and Janet,

Our hearts go out to you at this time. We remember, with fondness, the last time we saw Tyler. It was when he was in the hospital in Provo. We had a wonderful visit with him then. We guess he was needed on the “other side” for an important assignment. He lived life to the fullest and will be remembered for the wonderful person that he was. May the Lord bless and comfort you and your family at this time.

    With much love,

  • I remember Tyler singing the “Cheese” song at the annual stake seminary talent show. What a great sense of humor he has. The Pulsipher family is a pillar of the Latter Day Saints in the Tri-Cities and their kindness and service has made an indelible impression upon me and my family. God bless you guys in this time of need, and thanks be to our Father in Heaven for the plan of salvation. Tyler will be dearly missed. What a great soul.
