Roma Lee Jensen
Roma Lee Jensen, 71, of Richland, WA passed away on August 3, 2011 at her home. She was born on October12, 1939 in Beaver City, NE to Lloyd and Dorothy Harrold. Her family moved to Richland when she was young child when her father was hired to work at Hanford.
Roma attended school in Richland and graduated from Columbia High School in 1957. Roma started her career with Battelle out of high school and retired from Hanford in 1987. She was also an owner of the Dayton Motel.
She met and married the love of her life Roger Jensen on February 24, 1978. Although we all will miss her dearly, we are very happy they are reunited once again.
Roma was a great wife, mother and friend. She was generous to a fault and she loved to sew and crochet. She is survived by her children, Kelly Mohondro Blake, Kerry Mohondro, Michael Monhondro Shelia, Stacey Monhondro Cecil, Patrick Monhondro Angela; stepchildren, Kim Pueschner Mike, Janine Jensen Alex, and Russ Jensen Julie. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Harrold Lois and many special nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristy; father, Lloyd Harrold; mother, Dorothy and granddaughter Jacqueline.
At mom's request there will be no services. A family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate Roma's life.
Donations may be made to the Humane Society or an organization of your choice.
Roma was a dear friend and wonderful sister-in-law. We will miss her friendship and gracious hospitality. She left us too soon and she will be missed.
I only met Roma a few times, but was best friends with her daughter Kerry at Marcus Whitman grade school and best of friends for many years with her stepdaughter, Janine Jensen. So, although I didn’t know Roma well, it’s safe to say she raised wonderful children. To Kerry and Janine and the entire family, please accept my deepest sympathy. My mom passed away in 2001, and although I hadn’t talked to Kerry since grade school, she sent me the sweetest card. It touched my heart. Janine, I’ve been trying to contact you to reconnect, so please send me an e-mail if you get a chance.
To Roma’s family: We’re so very sorry for your loss. I’ve known of Roma since high school, but became closer when she married our longtime friend, Roger, in the ’70’s. A fine woman and a good friend. Our prayers are with you all.
Just two weeks ago, I visited my old neighborhood and thought of Roma, as I had often enjoyed walking to school with her. She was cute and popular and fun everything I was not and I loved her name – so unique in an time of Barbaras and Bettys, Joyces and Donnas. I never saw her after we moved in 1955. I hope it brings comfort to know that Roma is remembered fondly even by those you may never know.
Pat – Janine and the entire family…Our thoughts go out to you in what is certainly a tough and emotional time. I lost my mother a year ago and know the pain all too well; so cherish the heartfelt memories that I’m certain you have accumulated over the years; hopefully those memories and time work a healing remedy for all.
Respectfully,
Brian Biddle & Family
I remember Roma as a wonderful young lady; beautiful and confident when she was a Sophomore at Richland High School. Her poise, manners and smile made her one of the most loved in our school. Her classmates treasure her memory. May God bless her family and friends.
I really enoyed my yearly visits and tea with Roma when I came North for the summer. She was always proud of her children and grand children. Roma always enjoyed showing me her flowers and pets. You are Missed Roma.
Pat, sorry to hear about your mother. Hope all is well with you and yours. Gilly
Pat & Ange,
Our sincerest condolences with the loss of your Mother.
