Dixie Lee Anderson

Dixie Lee Anderson, beloved to her family and friends, went to be with her precious Lord on September 11, 2011. It appears to her family, that she was getting ready for church and instead received a heavenly greeting where the worship of her Savior never fades. It gives her loving family great comfort to know that this unexpected change of her morning plans was the joy she highly anticipated. Even though her physical heart failed, the love in her heart for the Lord lives strong for eternity. Dixie leaves behind family, neighbors and friends whose hearts are full because of the love she gave so generously. Dixie was hesitant to talk much about her life, and preferred to begin when she moved from Iowa to Richland to live with her sister who was working for the General Electric Company at Hanford. Dixie was also hired and worked for GE for 3 years. In 1953 she married a wonderful man, Blaine Anderson, and her life filled with love truly began. Within a few months of marriage, Blaine was drafted and they moved to Ladd AFB in Fairbanks, Alaska. They very much enjoyed their time in Alaska and had some wonderful trips. After the service, the Anderson's returned to Richland and Hanford employment. Son Mark and daughter Joan were born in Richland. After the government sold the housing, the family bought acreage in West Pasco and built a house. It became a happy little farm with chickens, a horse for Joan's riding, and cows. Dixie created a wonderful home and her gardens were amazing back then just like they are today. Camping, fishing, and leading a Blue-bird troop were all part of the special family years. After Blaine retired from Hanford, Dixie and Blaine moved to Winthrop, Washington and built their retirement home in the lovely Methow Valley. They loved the area and enjoyed building the house and all the extras. They met some very interesting "pioneer" friends that told them stories of what life had been like in the Valley. Blaine died suddenly in 1993 of a massive cardiac arrest. Dixie sold their home and returned back to the Tri-City area to be near her daughter Joan and her family. She quickly adopted a new "best-friend", Sally. Sally was a rescued grey-hound that was her loyal best friend and side-kick. Dixie was blessed to live in a close-knit neighborhood since 1993. The Colby Court neighbors loved on Dixie and Sally and it is a sweet keepsake for the family. Dixie especially wanted to share that later in life a most important happening occurred. "In our later life, the most important happening for Blaine and I was coming to know the Lord Jesus as our Saviour and Lord. Both of us had come from a 'church' background but had never known the fullness of Jesus in our hearts and lives. Our son and daughter were born again in Christ in their high school years, so our family was complete in Him." Dixie was the most wonderful mother, better than mother-in-law, grandma, and friend. Her love, kindness, and generosity will never be forgotten. She leaves behind her daughter Joan, husband Mike, grandsons Matthew and David Colby. She also leaves son, Mark and his wife Lynne, and granddaughters Leisha and Evie. A Memorial Service to rejoice in Dixie's home-going will be at College View Baptist Church at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2011. The church is located at 2100 West Agate Street in Pasco, Washington. Email remembrances are most welcome at a specially created email address: ruthanderson58@gmail.com.
