Melvin Lee Bud Johnson
Bud passed away the morning of Thursday Sept. 22 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center from complications from surgery.
He was born May 25, 1926 in Keokuk, Iowa. When he was a young boy his family moved across the river into Hamilton, Illinois When he was seventeen he went to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and worked in the navy ship yard. Upon moving back to the main land, he lived in California for awhile, then moved to Grand Coulee where he worked on the dam. Eventually he went to Montana and he worked in a planer mill. In 1948 he came to Washington and went to work at the Hanford Plant. First as a coal handler, and then transferred to the K-W area as a power operator. In 1970 he moved his family back to Hamilton to be near his parents. In 1973 he moved back to Richland, and went to work for General Services Administration at the Federal Building, where he finally retired.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nadene; his daughter, Janet McCollum Rick; son, Eric Eloise and son, Glenn. He is also survived by two sisters, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and his infant son.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at 1:00pm at Einan's Funeral Home, 915 By-Pass Highway in Richland, WA.
In lieu of flowers donations in his name can be made to Tri-City Union Gospel Mission, Kadlec Foundation, Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
My deepest sorrow and sympathy to everyone,I have known you for a very long time and Bud will be surely missed by many. My love and prayers go out to all the family.
