Jordan D Vojta
Jordan D. Vojta
Our very beloved Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa and Brother joined his childhood sweetheart, and wife of sixty years, in eternal life on October 5th, 2011. He has been struggling with health issues for the past several years.
Jordan was born on May 29th, 1932 in Mound City, SD to Arthur and Mae Vojta. He married Alieta Wolfer on May 1st, 1951 in Mobridge, South Dakota.
Jordan spent the early years of his adult life working construction. He and Alieta and their five children moved to the Tri-Cities 52 years ago to work on constructing Lower Monumental Dam. In 1963, he started his own business, Columbia Concrete Construction. He was a very successful and much loved businessman in this community. In 2008, he retired and placed his company into the very capable hands of his sons, Terry and Randy and his grandson, Dusty Vojta.
Jordan and Alieta were well known in the Tri-Cities and it seemed like everywhere they went they were constantly recognized and acknowledged by all those who loved and enjoyed spending time with them. When they walked into the Eagle's Lodge, the band would immediately start playing a rousing polka....they could clear the dance floor with their expertise! Alieta, who preceded him in death on October 1st, 2011, was the love of his life and he kindly and lovingly cared for her over the past three years as she battled lung cancer.
Although he had only five children, there are many others that consider him a second father and mentor. Jordan trained many young men in this community and set them on their own path to success. He had a heart of gold and was kind and generous to everyone who knew him. To know our Dad was to love him. So many people are going to miss him dearly.
Jordan was a 35-year member of the Moose and the Eagles. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, bowling, traveling and his work. He literally helped to build the Tri-Cities into the community it is today.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mae and Arthur Vojta, his wife of 60 years, Alieta, and three brothers.
He is lovingly survived by sons, Terry Teresa Vojta, Randy Ava Vojta, and daughters, Nancy Tom Sanders, Pam John Fredrick, and Cindy Tom Cochrane, Twenty-one Grandchildren and Fourteen Great-Grandchildren with one more expected in January. Also, sisters, Joyce Schlepp and Violet Martin and brother, Norman Bud Vojta and many nieces and nephews. He will forever be in our hearts as our hero.
Funeral services will be held at the Cathedral of Joy at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 8th, 2011. Burial will be at Riverview Heights Cemetery.
